Tar Camp in Jefferson County is located 39 min north of Pine Bluff, AR with an elevation of 217 feet. There are a total of 49 campsites including 2 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 45 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 30 and 98 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 45 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $9.00 to $60.00. Some amenities include shower, playground. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

It was a lovely park. It was a new experience not having anyone to check us in when we arrived or at least the next morning. Read a note on the guard house that gave instructions to call or text so I text that we had arrived. Heard nothing nor seen anyone until I text that we were checking out the next day. Finally got a text back telling me they were off that day but would get me checked out. Thing is I wasnt sure if we were checked in but I had my reservation and information if we needed it. Would definitely go back!!!!

Quiet, always well groomed campground. Enjoy the breeze coming off of the water as we watch the barges travel up and down the river. Police and park ranger patrol the area on a consistent basis. Park host are polite and very helpful.

Tar Camp is a great short drive from home. Its a beautiful place to relax along the Arkansas River and watch the barges come through. Theres a new restroom/bath house. Something new I found out last trip is that one of the bathhouses is a storm shelter.

Beautiful site right on the River. River has locks and dams so you will see barges being transported on River. Locks are smaller so boats will have less barges than you will see on Mississippi River, but still fun to see. Heavy rains while we were there but river was controlled by the dams. River was flowing quickly so no swimming.

Its an amazing place and lots of fun the only reason I didnt give it 5 stars is the bathhouse and really nasty and never got cleaned when we were there

The folks that are taking care of Tar camp are doing a great job. They work endlessly to keep the park looking great. They are very nice. The park is a great place to just relax and is so beautiful. Watching the sun coming up and going down is a beautiful picture of Gods creation. Good place to take your kids so they can be outside as bd enjoy nature. You can just go boating on the Arkansas River or take your fishing gear and fish. Either one is great!! It is close to home so we hope to go more often and love if being opened all year. Thank you!

Beautiful park! We had a site right on river side. Clean restrooms and each bathroom is private with plenty room. Level sites with grills, fire pit, picnic table.

We love going here. Clean bathrooms and showers in the back. Respectful neighbors. Great staff. Hopefully the sticker issue will be solved in the middle of the park next year as thats the only huge negative here. Will be back though.

what a great COE.. was able to watch the barges go down the river..very piecefull, large spaces, The showers look nice, although we did not use them.

Tar Camp is a hidden gem. This park is right on the Arkansas River, all the campsites are on the river bank. The road into the park is lined on both sides with trees. The park is absolutely beautiful. The restrooms are well maintained and the Park Attendants are great.Im already planning my next

Well managed, Friendly Park staff and very helpful. Good cell phone service at&t. Great grocery store in town. There is alot to be said about this park. Camp pads for rv/trailer are level, some spots may need minor leveling. We will be back.

The park was full the weekend we stayed around July 4th. A lot of families enjoying time together and the part was still a quiet place to relax. Sites are well spaced in most areas. A new bathhouse had been installed. There was concrete from the camping pad to the picnic table area, except for the site we chose. Was a bit unlevel going from the pad to the table. We were still happy to be camping on the bank of the Arkansas River, enjoying the breeze in the shade even with the extreme temperatures. We will return.

We loved this campground! Right on the Arkansas River! Our site number was D03, shaded, right on the river with nice amount of space on each side. We enjoyed watching the barges slowly go by. Lots of wildlife especially if you are a birder. Well maintained and easy to get to. We hope to return soon.
