Tar Camp in Jefferson County is located 39 min north of Pine Bluff, AR with an elevation of 217 feet. There are a total of 49 campsites including 2 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 45 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 30 and 98 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 45 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $9.00 to $60.00. Some amenities include shower, playground. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

Site A 10 water leaks non stop. Tons of holes all over we kept tripping in. Park hosted a Trick or Treat event. where campers were expected to hand out candy. Only problem? Nobody told us!? So kids start coming around up into our site all night and we have to keep telling people we didnt even know this event was happening. Didnt appreciate the huge spotlight shining into our site while trying to grill, have family time, and sit around the fire-which is what we went camping to do. Need to let campers know of events that affect their reservation dates. Before booking. Best part of the weekend? The river view beautiful.

The park keeper is excellent. She does great with keeping everything nice and clean. We love Tar Camp. We stayed during Camp-Oween and we already cant wait until next year. It was such a great time.

Tar is a beautiful camping area with excellent volunteer staff. Like that it is locked at night so you will not get much non-camping traffic.

Tar Camp is always a favorite of ours and stop there anytime in the area. The spaces are hugh, and we pull our motorhome face into the river so we can watch the barges going by. We had a bit of a problem with our 50 amp breaker, but Karen was very responsive and had it fixed right away. Its a bit in from the interstate, but well worth it.

Great little park, away from the noise and lights of the city right on the banks of the Arkansas river. The sites are level, save for a couple of them, water and electric are available and reliable. There are some trees that need cut down or trimming, but otherwise a very well maintained camp with friendly hosts and routine patrol visits.

Only stayed the Friday night due to ridiculous loud environment from loud music and screaming to gunshots into the river. Camp host participated in the loudness and refused to answer about refund for the second night and negotiations of partial for the 1 st night. Immediately packed up at sunrise and left for elsewhere.

Great visit. This was a good spot. Had some shade, covered picnic table. It was a short walk to the showers. They were clean and maintained very well for a crowded holiday weekend. Even though it was crowded camping spot wise, it didnt feel that way when you walk, bike, fish etc. The camp host is very friendly and helpful. We love Tar Camp.

I normally stay at this campground for a couple nights every year. The camp ground is generally clean, and the shower restroom area is acceptable. Consumer Cellular - little to no service

It was a lovely park. It was a new experience not having anyone to check us in when we arrived or at least the next morning. Read a note on the guard house that gave instructions to call or text so I text that we had arrived. Heard nothing nor seen anyone until I text that we were checking out the next day. Finally got a text back telling me they were off that day but would get me checked out. Thing is I wasnt sure if we were checked in but I had my reservation and information if we needed it. Would definitely go back!!!!

Quiet, always well groomed campground. Enjoy the breeze coming off of the water as we watch the barges travel up and down the river. Police and park ranger patrol the area on a consistent basis. Park host are polite and very helpful.

Tar Camp is a great short drive from home. Its a beautiful place to relax along the Arkansas River and watch the barges come through. Theres a new restroom/bath house. Something new I found out last trip is that one of the bathhouses is a storm shelter.
