Tar Camp in Jefferson County is located 39 min north of Pine Bluff, AR with an elevation of 217 feet. There are a total of 49 campsites including 2 tent-only sites. The campground is open all year. 45 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 30 and 98 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. 45 sites have electric and water hookups. Fees range from $9.00 to $60.00. Some amenities include shower, playground. Activities include boating, fishing, floating sports.

Beautiful park with a terrific view. Spotless clean and neat. Only regret was the showers. 3 of the 4 showers were broken and the one that did work was cold water only. I wasn't expecting that. But I would definitely camp there again if I'm ever in the area while traveling.

We have stayed at Tar Camp several times. The bathroom/shower facilities are a big factor for us when camping and Tar Camp offers one of the best. We enjoy watching the barges quietly making their way down the river and birders will not be disappointed. Only one warning is to be aware of the goat heads. Depending on the material of our shoes, one pair was covered with them, and one pair did not allow them the stick.

We had a beautiful, level back in site on the water. Very quiet time of year at Tar Campthe parking spaces were spaced well and not top of each other. We will be back!

It has been a few years since I have stayed at Tar Camp. It was nice to see the new upgrades. The park staff were helpful and very friendly. We will be back soon, it was a peaceful few nights.

Perfect camping at an historical site...the river is beautiful, the forrest is tall and calm, the people are amazingly friendly. If I can just make one suggestion is that more information about the trail of tears needs to be displayed and shared with all visitors. Only by acknowledging our past we can ensure that we move forward and never repeat the mistakes and cruelty of history.

We had a wonderful experience. The sites were all well kept. Unfortunately, with the burn ban, we couldn't enjoy our stay to the fullest so well have to come back. The only reason I cant give it all stars is because they had the middle/main restrooms closed, which is less than a hundred yards from our site. Instead we had to go 300 yards to the next one.

The park attendants, Karen & Ethan, are very attentive and friendly. We had an issue with a tree limb falling and our 110 hookup, and they took care of them quickly! We always enjoy Tar Camp!!

The park was very pretty. Campsites were spread out. Not too much outside noise besides boat on the river and a low hum from a power plant. Cell service was sketchy.

First Trip Success at Tar Camp!We just finished our first stay in our "new to us" motorhome, and Tar Camp was the perfect choice. Our site D-03 was nice and level with reliable water and electric hookups, which made our first setup a breeze. The location is incredibly peaceful and being so close to the river was so relaxing.

This is a very lovely campground with great waterfront sites. A definite go to when in the area. Very small town, but a decent grocery store and doable laundromat. Not far from the city if that's your thing.

Site A 10 water leaks non stop. Tons of holes all over we kept tripping in. Park hosted a Trick or Treat event. where campers were expected to hand out candy. Only problem? Nobody told us!? So kids start coming around up into our site all night and we have to keep telling people we didnt even know this event was happening. Didnt appreciate the huge spotlight shining into our site while trying to grill, have family time, and sit around the fire-which is what we went camping to do. Need to let campers know of events that affect their reservation dates. Before booking. Best part of the weekend? The river view beautiful.

The park keeper is excellent. She does great with keeping everything nice and clean. We love Tar Camp. We stayed during Camp-Oween and we already cant wait until next year. It was such a great time.

Tar is a beautiful camping area with excellent volunteer staff. Like that it is locked at night so you will not get much non-camping traffic.
