Don't miss out on a winter camping opportunity at Watchman! We were there in January and while there were remnants of snow at Zion's higher elevations, Watchman was clear and relatively uncrowded. We were camped in spot 44, which is near the river, which was flowing and was soothing to sleep to. It was a large spot but I'd say if the opportunity is there, take any spot on the river side if you can. Spacing of spots is generous but perhaps part of that feeling was due to the fact it was not terribly crowded. We saw deer in the morning but relatively little other wildlife in camp. The bathrooms were surprisingly clean all the time, a nice combination of respectful campers and staff who care. The grounds were well kept and trash bins were readily accessible. We were in an RV van that had a shore power connection, so the electrical connection was nice. It had both 30 and 50 amp connections, I believe. Although I'm advocating for winter camping, I do concede it would be quite cold for tent camping. Most of the campers were in RVs. Finally, there are a couple small towns before you hit the national park, so you can pick up firewood there without lugging it the whole distance of your drive. Similarly, you can get any of your provisions in those towns. I'm giving Watchman a 5 out of 5. Thanks to the park service and fellow campers for creating a great environment!

We throughly enjoyed our stay at Watchman Campground. Camp hosts were very friendly and helpful with any questions we had. They also expressed their appreciation for us being creative on how we hung our lights around camp since you cannot hang stuff of of the trees. The bathrooms were heated and clean. A 8 min walk or 2 min bike ride to Springdale to Zion Outfitters & you can pay for showers. Restaurants, a small market, and even a spa all right there. The visitor center and shuttle bus is also super close, its right by the entrance to the camp area. The cell service was good (Verizon) and the electricity (Loop B) was excellent. We ran our diesel heater to keep warm in our ikamper (40 degrees at night) and ran an electric blanket. Everyone was respectful around us and one of our most enjoyable trips. Best part was the river rushing by our sight drowning out any noises from others making it feel like we were all alone. Deers and a Blue Heroins hung out and didnt mind us watching. Definitely keep food up and have bear spray because next to the Deer print was huge predator prints following them. Possible coyote, bear, or mountain lion.

This pull through site is very large and level, it is wonderful being on the river and close to the restrooms but you are right on top of the dumpster at this site. Restrooms are decorated with the usual campground cobwebs in the unreachable corners of the ceiling but otherwise quite clean. Note: theres water bottle fill station and a very nice, large communal dish sink on the back side of the restroom, we didnt discover this luxury until our last day. This site is at the very end of the walkway to the visitor center. Remember to bring your park pass and maybe campground reservation to avoid paying a second time for admission to the park if you leave. From there you can access the shuttle system to visit the park or even go out in town for a meal. The restaurant Zion Canyon Brew Pub quite good, has live music, and is just across the footbridge and a only few steps outside of the park along with Zion Outfitters where you can rent gear for the Narrows and check conditions for flash flood safety. My family is accustom to navigating slippery intertidal rocks in Keens, so they wore theirs and purchased walking sticks from the nearby (also walkable for most people) Trailhead Gifts and Gear. We had worries about pebbles getting in the sides but fortunately didnt have that issue. There was a tree across the campground path (as of early fall 24) that seemed to have been downed for awhile given the added path created by foot traffic around the base of the felled tree, for those with mobility issues this could keep you from being able to utilize this path, I managed with a cane but it would be difficult for anyone with a stroller and dangerous for a wheelchair. Overall this was one of our favorite parks and campgrounds we went to out of 14 national parks we visited this trip.

The only desirable thing is hot showers Other than that its perfect place to stay the closest to the park as long as you have RV or just a tent.

Watchman campground is in an excellent location. Enjoyed our stay here at 3 different sites over 4 nights. Bathrooms were closed at 2 sites & Campground Host said the Park Service cant get maintenance people to repair the facilities. This was really the only issue we had.
