I was unfortunately suffering from altitude sickness. I couldn’t do the hikes, but truly it did not hinder my ability to enjoy the views, or get in the truck an do the rides!
The town of Springdale was very nice.
A little busy but it’s summer ??
Restrooms could use an upgrade. Add another stall and urinal or two.
Our new RV is 24 feet long and not that easy to park, so we opted for hikes within walking distance of the campground. Watchman and Parus are both great! And it's always fun to walk the various campground loops. We didn't enjoy being passed by electric bikes on Parus, but understand the wisdom of keeping them off the main road when traffic is so busy. We didn't try to reserve the shuttle, have hiked up-canyon trails in the past and didn't feel the need. We drove to the Kolob section off I-15 near Cedar City and were delighted to discover this less-busy area, although the parking lot for the Taylor Creek trail was full, both coming and going. But the Timber Creek Overlook was terrific, and we lucked into South Fork of Taylor Creek from an non-NPS internet article previously found. This needs a trail identification sign, folks; we had to return to the Visitor Center for directions because the article confused "up the road" and "down the road". As we departed the main Park via the eastern side, we stopped at one of the many pull-offs and explored a ravine down below, making our own path -- one of our favorite things on a 2-week adventure in Utah that included good times at Sunset Crater, Red Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, and Canyonlands Island in the Sky. THANK YOU for the evening programs, cause nowhere else had them; especially loved the Science in the Sky presentation. And HOORAY for electric hookups! After many years in a tent, later a pop-up, then a trailer, an old Airstream van, and now our RV, we are happy campers indeed, and Zion is a decades-long favorite for us Southerners.
