It was my second time at Yosemite but first time camping at Wawona. The experience was wonderful from the start. No hassle with checking in after hours and the park rangers were friendly and knowledgeable of the area. The campground is kept very clean and provides a quiet and peaceful environment. We were camped just steps away from the river which was also memorable. Traffic overall was not bad when driving up the mountain to see the beautiful sites. Gorgeous views everywhere. Definitely recommend!

I really wanted to like this campsite so here are the things about it. You are less than a minutes walk from the Merced river. The river is really nice and awesome after a day of hiking or just to chill in and hang out. The site is small-ish, but, it's not crowded by any means, not like the B and C loops. Tree coverage is nice, only in the middle of the day did it feel like there was not enough shade. The restroom is close by and it is super clean. The trash bins are close as well, take that as you will. Now the rest. The entire site is on a grade, and not a small one. Nothing is level. Not the tent spot, not the bear locker, not the picnic table, even the fire ring has a large gap under it on one side. It's bad enough that things will roll/slide/fall out of the bear locker when you open it. Also, i kept waking up at night because i kept sliding downhill in my tent. And sites 28, 29,and 30 are all the same. It's pretty bad. The picnic bench even has blocks under one side to try and level it, which only makes that side really tall and not easy to use.The other bad is the traffic. You are close enough to Hwy41/Wawona road that you hear every single car and truck on it. And they are driving up and down it all night long. At times it sounds like they are going right through camp. The other traffic issue is with campers going to the B & C loop. Most people seem to think the in camp road is ok to speed past on. I have kids so this was a concern for us, especially since you need to walk out to the road to go to the restroom. I know that's not really a campsite issue (more of a people are just inconsiderate and careless), but something to be aware of.Other than that the site was nice and we enjoyed our time. If you are a hammock camper it's probably perfect for you as our neighbor camper seemed to be enjoying himself. :)Also it's Yosemite, it's good to just be here.
