The site was perfect! Just next to the river and close to the restrooms. We visited the Mariposa Grove, which was spectacular and the Valley the day before our stay here. Both are must sees!

The campground is very beautiful, on the banks of the river with small beaches for swimming. The sites are spacious and practical for setting up tents. The toilets are in good condition and clean. The campground is near Mariposa Grove and the giant sequoias. We had a very good night.

I liked this site and the bathrooms were kept very clean. These sites were situated under trees and offered privacy. There is a slight slope and the river cannot be as easily accessed from these sites since the bank is more overgrown. Sites 50-77 along the river have better access to the river, but not all provide shade.
I only deducted one star bc the rangers allowed the next person who had reserved our site to come in at 8 am in the morning and woke us up. They came with loads of people, took our parking and were all over our campsite. We were literally observed while getting up and having breakfast. After we complained they were told to come back when we check out, but we still shouldn't be put in that situation and you can't allow someone else to start occupying your spot when you are still present and have the site paid for.

We stayed in site 003 and it was great! Beautiful location, shaded, close to the creek, which in May 2023 was full and looked more like a river! Great campground, restrooms were clean and well maintained. Bear boxes are large enough to fit a big cooler and all our food + toiletries. We have a Pelican bear proof cooler that is obnoxiously large and it still fit in the bear box. The ranger advised us that even though it is a bear proof cooler to not leave it out, so we were happy to see that it fit in the bear box. Wawona campground is near the small town of Wawona. We were able to explore hiking around there including the "swinging bridge", it is a very short hike from the parking lot (if you drive there instead of hike from the campground) and it was great if you like that kind of adventure! The bridge does swing, and it is just cables as side rails, definitely a fun little adventure. It is nice to see other things not in the valley and this campground provided those opportunities.

Great campground! Staff were very nice and provided plenty of additional information. Site 003 was great with lots of space near the river. Treed but lots of morning sun and the walk to the car was only 20' so really not a walk at all. I do think site 004 could be the best though as you have the most privacy and a small creek running near you. Site 004 is also the last site before the boundary of the campground.

Mobile Data Speed Map
#123
If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
