Beautiful campground, close to one of the forks of the Merced River. Great to stay here if your goal is to explore the Yosemite backcountry via the Wawona area. Some campsites can be hit and miss: we had campsite #96 but unfortunately it did not have adequate shade due to trees that had been cut down at one point in time.

Nice and silent campground. With clean restrooms and friendly rangers

Super sweet campsite with lovely adventures all around. New to this area of the park and it did not disappoint!

Wawona Camgrounds are a great alternative to the Campgrounds inside Yosemite Valley. It was nearly impossible for my family to book a campsite in Yosemite valley as it all seems to book up in the blink of the eye. I was able to secure campsite 96 on Loop C at Wawona from a Thursday to Sunday. The campsite was right next to restrooms that were clean and traditional flushing toilets with three stalls, a urinal, and two sinks. Outside of the restroom was a sink with potable water.

Campgrounds are kept very clean and everyone respected quiet hours. There was a amphitheater at Loop B which had a talk at 8 pm which we didn't have a chance to attend. The River adjacent to the campgrounds was moving very fast so swimming is not recommended at all. Firewood can be purchased at the nearby general store for about $10 a box.

We arrived to Wawona Campgrounds at around 12:30 pm on Thursday afternoon, no wait to enter the Yosemite NP. The entrance to the park is a short 15 minute drive south of Wawona Campground, you have to essentially first pay entrance fee into Yosemite NP to get into the park and reach the campgrounds. As you enter from the south entrance you will see sign for Mariposa Grove Welcome Plaza. This is a nice little hiking area you could take a trail from the plaza into the grove its about a 2 mile stroll or if the shuttle is running you can use that.

We had a fantastic time at this campground and would return again!
