Close to the bathroom is good yet the lights are on all night. plenty of space for several tents.

The site was excellent. The path to the restroom was paved all the way. No ice on the path and the restrooms were warm and toasty. The only thing I would complain about is the daylight in winter only lasts for 4 hours at most so the campground doesn't really warm up. But in summer it would be outstanding.

Excellent location in the Valley generally.Campsite density is high. Air quality was poor on a winter night at site #42. No privacy at site #42, with other campers walking through the site to shorten their walk to/fro the bathroom.

Excellent camp hosts, very nice people, and a very beautiful spot. Very nice restrooms. These folks take pride in what they do.

We loved this campground! Right in the park within a short walking distance to Curry Village (where there are options for food, a grocery store with beer, wine, liquor, gift shop, and climbing store). Hiking trails are also located right near the campground. Bathrooms were accessible, clean, and close to camping sites. 10/10 for our trip to Yosemite NP!

I was there in the winter. So the experience was quite different from the summer.

Staff/camp hosts at upper pines were extremely friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay!

Why are they allowing campfires? Not only is half of California on fire so allowing campfires seems very dumb, but they also produce an absurd amount of smoke on the entire campground experience. With no wind the smoke lingers over the campground until the morning hours.
Supposedly campfire hours are from 5-10pm only but neither the NPS staff nor the campground hosts enforced this.
Absolutely terrible and made us leave early. We have enough smoke at home, don't need to sit at the campground with more human made smoke! Please ban campfires. There really is no need when it's 90+ degrees outside with 80 degree overnight temps!

The location was great. Though our spot was close to the bathrooms (which may not be ideal for some in RVs etc) the tap to re-fill up drinking water containers was also conveniently located. We really enjoyed the views and the walk to the river etc.

We had a wonderful time in Yosemite. Traffic was light. It wasn’t crowded! I wish they had seat covers in the bathrooms. My only complaint is that people are aloud to reserve a handicap site that aren’t handicapped!! People should show their handicapped sign when they arrive. People who have walkers & or wheelchairs should have first access to the handicapped sites. So sad anybody can reserve a handicapped site!!

As far as campgrounds, very adequate. What makes it so very special... the setting of course, how can you go wrong with that! Well, the proximity to Curry Village and the Awahnee for breakfast or wine and cheese after your hike (bring your own if you like, no corkage fee) on the lawn is a pretty good deal too!!! I just wish it was not so hard to get a booking here, but if I would just shut up, maybe it would be easier (doubtful).

Really great campground. The bear locker is big enough for everything with room to spare and the toilets are flush! Score! I loved how to campground had a beautiful view of the mountain and stars. Easy to walk to Mirror Lake or the John Muir trail from the campground.
