We enjoyed our stay at Upper Pines campground. It was wonderful to be able to hear the Merced River from our site (236). We rode the Green Line shuttle extensively to get around the valley. This worked well for the most part. One driver did not announce stops over the bus PA system. The bus was crowded and we were towards the back. Hence we missed our stop and this caused us to miss a scheduled tour we had signed up for.

We had a wonderful hike on the Happy Isles trail one evening. We saw a bear on the hike. He minded his business and we minded ours.

We found the generator use schedule too restrictive. We need to run our generator to recharge batteries during the day so that my wife can run her CPAP at night. We were often away from our site during 'generator hours' either hiking or participating in a park activity. Having more flexible 'generator hours', say, anytime between 7am and 9pm but not more than 2hrs at a time would work.

Campground was well maintained and managed. Bathrooms were clean and heated! Showers are available at Curry Village but that did not feel very convenient with the limited shuttle service. I recommend bringing bikes during the shoulder season (Spring) as the shuttles were infrequent. Also arrive with ice, paper product (tissues/TP/paper towels) and campfire wood. The stores in the valley ran out of these supplies. The Falls were amazing and we feel fortunate to have had a chance to experience them prior to the Park closing again due to potential flooding.
