214 is a great spot for a Honda Element and a single tent. Upper Pines is great in general.

Terrible experience. Arrived late afternoon of our first day to find a car parked in our site. We were told there was nothing they could do (they wouldnt tow or even cite the offending car) but would try to get us an alternative site for the night. They said wed have set up in the temporary site and then tear down, pack up, move, unload and set up in our original site whenever the car moved.I said that was unacceptable. With only three full days in the park we werent going to spend the better part of one of those days moving sites. Almost two hours after we first arrived, we were finally given a site that we were told we would have for the four nights of our reservation. Not the area we had reserved and pretty much wiped out our first evening but we were making the best of it.Fast forward to our last full day and we found a notice on our vehicle in the morning that we needed to vacate the site immediately. Talked to the Ranger at the kiosk and was told theyd given our site to someone else and we had to move. Basically, we would end up spending the rest of the day tearing down, loading up, moving, unloading and setting up only to have to tear down and load up again the next morning just in time to head home.I told him that was not what we were promised but it was clear he really didnt care. I told him wed just pack and leave but expected a refund on our last night at a minimum. Nope, the original site was available and it wasnt their fault I didnt want to waste the rest of our trip moving sites. This trip was the rescheduling of our spring 40th anniversary trip which was canceled because they had closed the valley due to expected flooding. We understood that but the issues on this trip were completely within the control of staff. They just werent willing to do anything to accommodate us.

It's all about the location. Campground crowded, rules weren't really being enforced. But whatever when you can get to camp right in the heart of Yosemite.
