We waited at the closure from late April to early May in hopes of keeping our precious opportunity to camp and it paid off. This is an extraordinary year because of the falls and the Merced River being so full. The foliage seems to be gleeful after dry years. We even experienced snowfall over night. Glorious.

We had a great week in Yosemite Upper Pines campground late April.! We were able to enjoy the park before it shut down as a flooding precaution. Some trails still had snow but went to Vernal & Nevada Falls via John Muir trail, left at 8am next time it will be 7. Still snow on it, some difficult terrain but beautiful to see both falls raging. Bring bikes with you to ride around the valley floor & see all Mother Nature has to offer.. Lots of water on the roads and some trails, before we left the creeks we’re flowing into some campsite rings.
