Upper Pines Campground is walking distance to Happy Isle, Curry Park, and Mirror Lake. Friendly & helpful staff in kiosk which opened at 10 am. Nice one way loop with spacious 2 car parking spots. Campsite #189 is a corner spot with some sun in Oct. Heated restroom nearby.

rained a lot, next camp was FULL of climbers (4 cars, dozen tents), who were quite rude. the Yosemite Lodge Restaurant had very good cook and servers. the staff we encountered were uniformly pleasant. in the Lodge cafeteria ran into more really rude climbers. we had some trouble with walkers clogging up the pathways 8 abreast and very reluctant to let bikes through. not as much fun as in the past.

Amazing access to trail heads/Curry Village, and great campers overall!

#189 is a great spot -- about a 2 min walk to the bathroom and the trash but not the closest so stink-free. There's plenty of space and while there is a slight slope in the area where the tent should go, not bad if you have a pad -- we did have a larger tent so maybe if your tent is a 2-3 person one it should be fine. You can see the half dome (?), trees, greenery, and the mountains all around! I'd pick this spot again if I come back -- and will!

Someone needs to check and update all of the site accommodation lengths. For example, we were in UP 71. Confirmation says 24 foot trailer (is that the same as an RV? RV not mentioned). If you look online, the listing says 30 foot vehicle or 35 foot RV. In the confirmation I received, it said 24 foot trailer (again RV not mentioned so does the 24 foot apply to an RV?). So I had no idea what would be accommodated. The other site we had had the same issues.

Been coming to Yosemite for almost 50 years now and it never disappoints. Regarding Upper Pines campground, only some mild complaints. There was a huge group of people with lots of kids that appeared to occupy only one campsite. Maybe they booked 2 sites and only used one but they were a noisy group and certainly disrupted the peace and tranquility that we seek when we go to Yosemite. It's no one's fault but Mother Nature but the recent cutting down of many trees, presumably due to disease, has made the campground sunnier and perhaps noisier. Oh well, still love it.
