The camp host, Larry, was helpful and on top of things! We were there for two nights in February during the Firefall. Tips for getting to Firefall from Upper Pines. Take the Green Shuttle from the Lower Pines Stop outside of Upper Pines Campground entrance. If you get on a Purple Shuttle you'll have to change shuttles and possibly delay your arrival to the viewing area. Depending on the day the returning shuttle may not be going through to Curry Village. You'll either have to get off and walk back to the campground or wait for a Purple Shuttle.

Beautiful campsite, surprisingly populated but pretty tough drive to get to the site. Plan accordingly

Best way to enjoy the valley portion of the park. Quite difficult to get spots with such high demand. We used a 3rd party app that gave faster notifications if sites becoming available when people canceled. Mid-May a great time of year; warm days/cool evenings. Very well maintained with level trailer pads.

Fabulous NPS campground in the heart of yosemite Valley. Shame it's so difficult to reserve a site. But thw NPS staff were a delight. Cannot recommend highly enough.

All of the campgrounds in Yosemite are cramped. I am not picking on Upper Pines, there is just barely enough room for your rig to park, especially on the inner sites. And if you are adverse to campfire smoke you are going to get to stay completely closed up in your rig, as there was no breeze and no way for the smoke to dissipate. We were lucky that the temperature was cool enough to be closed up in our rig. And we only stayed one night. There are no hookups and generators are restricted to small windows of certain times during the day. We will stay outside of the park next time and travel back and forth.

We have gone to Yosemite for many years, but this was our first time in our RV. We could get only 2 days because of the time of year (December and maybe because of the Covid-19 Virus too.) Reservations were very easy to make. When we arrived at Upper Pines there was no one at the kiosk, but then we had reservations so we just proceeded to our camp site.
There are so many things to do: bike riding, walking up to the Lower Yosemite Falls and then across the bridge and continue in a very comfortable walk, going to the Ahwahnee Hotel, hike to Vernal and Nevada Fall. Driving up to Glacier Point is a must, if it is open. Every part of Yosemite has a wonderful view

We stayed in spot 79. It fit our RV and vehicle perfectly. Everyone was quiet and respectful. Also, the camp ground attendants were sooo knowledgeable and helpful! They gave us great tips, maps and recommendations. We were very grateful for their help!

Beautiful waterfalls and fall color in the valley.
