It was nice to camp in the valley. Curry village is close with food, showers and supplies. Free shuttles get you around the valley to all the valley sights. Bathrooms were clean with flushing toilets however sites are relatively small and close together. Not bad for a one night stay but not preferred if you want some space.

I love Yosemite! During this tough time with all of the layoffs, employees were still friendly and hardworking. The park was beautiful as always and the campground restrooms were very clean. The employees and volunteers are doing an amazing job. Thank you!

Upper Pines is a classic campground inside the heart of Yosemite. Easy to get to Curry Village and Vernal Falls trailhead on foot and easy bike ride to Mirror Lake and other Valley destinations. It's very family friendly and most everyone adheres to the quiet hours and maintains a courteous camping MO. This site backs onto an open communal area, so it feels larger than some.

Brought a 16 bell tent with stove in the end of December. Outside temp was a low of 29 and inside we got it at a max of 95. It was amazing. It got so hot I was just in my t shirt. Definitely recommend it if you can. The site was big enough, water was a bit of an issue because the three closest water fountains were frozen over or barely dripping water. We stayed for 7 days and brought a 6 gallon water tank then filtered it out with one of the msr water purifiers. We then soon realized the room where you throw waste water near the water fountains/restroom had a faucet with enough space to conveniently pour water into the big water tank. Not all trails were allowed to hike on. Even longer trails that were open were significantly slowing us down because snow was soft and clearly very few people attempted to continue. Vernal fall from Muir trail was the place I recalled. As you got closer to emerald pool you quickly realized how the snow was not stepped on. Once you reached the corner viewpoint on vernal fall it was not stepped on at all but maybe 10 footsteps. I attempted to get close enough to the pedestrian-safety-rail if I can call it that but 5 steps of my own not stepped on snow made me realize this wasnt a good idea because it was starting to go at waist depth and was going to get cold quicker in my mind. 5 steps in was closer then the man/woman before me so that was cool. We overpacked like it was Antarctic with many wool, down, and snow pant layers. Let me tell you though, we were comfy when not in motion or waltzing around the trails. Bear in mind once you know youll do a big hike, leave some layers at home base because the blood pumps and you stay warm that way. This was the end of December and when I hiked up upper Yosemite falls I ended up with just pants and one layer of 250g wool. Always bring some kind of backpack, its a lot easier to hang or place excess clothing in there. Last tip, firewood can be purchased at the village store.

Everything was great, the camp hosts were kind and helpful, the bathrooms were relatively clean. This spot was a little narrow between 2 trees, but the 4Runner fit just fine, 2 bathrooms were nearby.

Very nice host. Another campsite ticketed by the bear police for leaving water bottles out! really! Rode bikes all over the valley and hiked up the mist trail to Nevada Falls. A great experience. Bathrooms clean. First time I was able to get a site after many years of trying.

Yosemite is an amazing place to visit. The local of Upper Pines is right in the valley, with amazing views of Glacier Point, Half Dome, and within hiking/shuttle range of all the major points in the valley, and a quick drop in to Curry/Half Dome village where there's a shop, dining area, and several food options. The campsite itself is simplistic, a deforested portion of the valley where you can see clear across the entire campground. There's no notion of the woods here as trees are scarce and you see and hear everything that happens in the campsites next to you; and you will because sites are packed as tight as possible to accommodate all the people that want to visit. A cheap and easy way to stay in the valley, but not a great campsite itself.
