Campground was full, but quiet even with scouts camping adjacent to us. Weather was surprisingly good with no snow in the middle of December.

Rangers and camp hosts are great, but the fact that the camp hosts live in RVs means that they do not hear or notice people running their generators in the middle of the night. If you're tent camping in winter, you should expect to hear generator noise throughout the night. No soap in the bathroom is nasty- toilets shouldn't even exist without soap dispensers nearby. These things should be constructed together, with the expectation that the toilet will be used for activities which will result in the need for hand soap. Other than that, the bathrooms were pretty clean and were obviously being cleaned on a daily basis. These sites are tiny compared to other campgrounds in California but very spacious as compared to Oregon state parks. As compared to Camp 4 there are a lot less issues with people walking through your site or next to your tent, but way more babies crying and generator noise.

Good spot. Nice location near Happy Isles trailhead. This exact site is a little tight, but we had 2 cars and a large 4-person tent, and made it work just fine.

Small Site very close to bathroom. Not really meant for tent camping, but could be done. We mostly parked there and had another site we used to gather in...one small camper used in this site. All was well maintained and the bathrooms were very well kept.

Stunning views and friendly rangers and hosts. Being able to take all the hikes from my campground was so convenient. My specific site 40 was right next to the bathroom and shady during the day. Amazing experience

We still love camping in the Valley but the reservation system has become a nightmare of frustrations, moving sites every morning, parking and reparking.

Great view of the surrounding mountains. Well kept and clean for a camp ground.

The campground is great! Lots of shade, flushing toilets and water in the bathrooms, a quick walk to Curry Village and trailheads. Our only issue was that we had to book three different campsites for a four might stay, even booking six months out. It wasn’t terrible, but we had to figure out where to park our vehicle and stash our food in communal bear bins for early morning starts when we needed to switch campsites. Also, campground was “full”, but there were at least 10 or more sites unoccupied every night we were there.

Horrible experience winter camping at upper pines campground. Spoke to Park Ranger about clearing the site parking space from ice/snow piles to park my RV vehicle. Was unable to get vehicle into the parking space. She refused to provide support and or an alternate site to camp.

Beautiful place, nice rangers, but loved to death by too many people. We thought a weekday in late October would be less crowded, (silly us) but it was filled. Mostly large families. Everyone had their diesel generators on at all times except overnight quiet times. Most people also had fires going all the time. A resulting polluted haze hung over the campgrounds. We left a day early because the air pollution was settling into our lungs. Deferred maintenance also needs to be addressed.

The campground is beautiful with many different activities close by. I had my dogs with me so we hiked from the campground to Mirror lake and back. It was just an overnight reservation. But this hike didn't disappoint. Beautiful view along.

Upper pines site 040 has amber room for 2 cars parked side by side. Site is close to the restroom. If you want privacy, this site is not recommended. Other than the heavy foot traffic, this is a good flat site.

Thank you for the hard working snow crew at Yosemite!
Happy to have been able to experience the last couple days of my reservation despite the large influx of snow

It's crowded-- even when it is cold. Generators run all day and kids scream and yell like tiny banshees. The tent spots are minimal and small, so obviously they want you to be bringing in RVs and trailers to purchase more crap at the Lodge store, the Village Store and the various gift shops/trinket stands. I'm definitely never staying here again. What a waste of money.

We have been to different national campgrounds and we have always felt good. This campground is AWFUL. The restrooms are incredibly dirty (the person that cleans them he simply doesnt clean... sinks are brown from dirt), there is no place to wash the dishes (and it is obviously not possible to wash them close to the tent). Horrible experience
@ShannonM451773 · Camped on Nov 15, 2019 at Campsite #40
Loved the views of surrounding icons, like El Capitan and Half Dome. Each site features a fire ring, food locker, and picnic table. Even though we were at the end of the season and expected low crowds due to the rain & cold...Upper Pines still was crowded...that being said, the central location and convenience of Upper Pines makes it a no-brainer when visiting Yosemite. I also was a fan of them being Pet Friendly!

The staff at Yosemite is always helpful and kind. We thought we might arrive after check-in and called the ranger and they said it was fine and we could check-in in the morning. My favorite hike was Vernal Falls!
