We stayed at Upper Pines Campground. Easy to walk around and see beautiful views everywhere. The shuttle bus is very easy to use. Its fun to take time to watch the climbers on El Capitan. (At the other end of the Valley). The restaurants at Curry Village were adequate. A little gift shop has everything you need.

While the outdoors are for everyone I always try to be respectful when camping around others. This includes not walking straight through other people camp to get to the bathroom. I understand camping near the restroom causes this more and while I usually dont say anything to people when they do this, I wish other campers were a little more courteous or the campground explained campground etiquette a little more. Maybe this review will help spread the word.

It's hard to complain when you've scored a camping spot in Yosemite Valley. It is always a 5-star nature experience. However, site 38 in Upper Pines (the only spot we were able to book in the frantic reservation clicking) is right by the bathroom, with power-flush toilets and motion-activated lights, that make it difficult to sleep (earplugs + putting ones sleepingbag over one's head helped). There was a late-season rain/snowstorm May 4th-5th, and we got wet and chilled in our tents. In the morning freezing temperatures we were not allowed to have a campfire (because it was after May 1st), so it was difficult to warm up until a few hours later when the sun came out. Would be better if the cutoff date for morning campfires was based on temperature/weather and not just calendar. The shuttles are agonizingly slow (they sit at stops). For shorter distances it makes sense to walk, or in early May it wasn't a problem to drive and park.

Site 38 is pretty good if you don't mind the lights from the restroom.

Site flooded under 6: of water with no advanced notification. Traveled a LONG way to find out it was not possible to use the site. Had to relocate to Camp 4. NO ONE available from the park to help us figure out what was going on as all offices were closed...

Yosemite is a special place! The one gripe is that people do not follow generator hours.

Very cramped and noisy campground but cannot beat the proximity to Curry Village and the Mist/Vernal Falls trail. I had Campground 038 and it was directly in front of the bathroom, so people would walk through my campsite to get to the bathroom. I have been camping many times but never had a campground like 038. Don't recommend 038.

Campsite was extremely small and directly next to the restrooms. No other sites were available. The smells coming out of the bathroom all day and night ranged from human to chemical. It really put a damper on the experience that they have sites situated 6 feet away from the entrances to restrooms.

Campground was great. We have been coming here for many years. I was surprised however on how many spaces remained vacant overnight even though the campground sign at the entrance said full. Shuttle service was still requiring people to wear masks and very limited shuttle service was available.

So....I'm 69 years old, so take this with the proverbial grain of salt (just the grumpy in me). The place is amazing, beautiful. Our country has some amazing NP's and I've seen about half of them with my family over the years. But...(now to the grumpy part) the type of people camping has sure changed. Generators start half hour before designated time in the morning, people walk right through your campsite to the bathroom when they are only 20 feet from the walkway. Not to mention people and their dogs. Dogs are supposed to be leashed and not on trails...but not their dogs..."those rules are for YOUR dog, not mine, because mine is special." And people aren't as polite regarding noise, both in the morning and at night. I guess they just don't realize how far voices carry in such a quiet place. And, sad as it is to say, it is not people my age. It's usually those much younger. Not always, but in general. Come to Yosemite to see God's hand at work. Come and enjoy everything it has to offer. But try and remember you aren't the only one there. Share, be kind and respectful. Oh, and get your noses out of your phones and look around you. There is nothing on your phone that can match this beauty...nothing. None of these things will keep me away, but they make me shake my head much more often while I'm here.

The Campground sites are very close- with no buffer between- the bathroom which we were right on top of was not heated (the other bathrooms were). I understand that the Park is understaffed at this time- but there was no one at the Kiosk, no camp host so no over site of any camp rules- regarding generators, washing dinner dishes in the bathroom sinks and then leaving who knows what to sit in the sinks- it was really gross.
