Campground was clean and well maintained. We stayed in early May. Spacing can be tight between sites when the campground is full, but we had a no-show next to us so that left us feeling pretty spacious. We used a large 8 person tent and there was plenty of room at the site. Mosquitoes were not bad this time of year.

This is just the place to be. Upper pines is my second home. This campgrounds gets less foot traffic and surrounding vehicle noise since the surrounding road is service vehicles only. Bathrooms always kept.

We loved our stay! There was about half of the space covered with trees shade and half not, which moved throughout the day. Right by the creek so we were able to cool down with our feet in the water and the kids had fun playing in it.

We had an amazing week at Upper Pines campground. Not only were the conditions truly the best I've ever experienced in Yosemite, but the efforts being made to keep the campground well maintained, even after the difficult 2023 winter season, were excellent. The bathrooms were very clean and all campsites were clean and ready for use. We also received much appreciated tips and instruction from several rangers who visited our site during our stay.
We are not first time Yosemite campers, but I would recommend Upper Pines to anyone as well as any of the Valley accessible trails. The Mist Trail was absolutely epic, earning its name in full force this spring with maximum amounts of mist pouring over the steps to the top of Vernal Falls. It was an unforgettable experience. I would recommend some type of more sophisticated GPS if you venture all the way to Clouds Rest as we eventually lost the trail in the snow and had to settle for getting within a quarter mile of the top...

The campground itself is very good and well located within the park. However, the restrooms do not have showers (you need to go to Curry Village for that). Also, it might be just a personal preference, but there were too many campers around us, many of them arriving late (after 10:00 pm). I prefer something more quiet/dispersed. With that said, I'd definitely stay again at Upper Pines in case there are no other options available.

We stayed two nights at two different sites due to availability. Specifically about Site 141, it is inexplicable that this site is deemed unsuitable for a truck camper > 18 ft. We are > 24 ft and we fit fine. The previous night, the site was occupied by a truck camper of 30 ft loa including bicycle racks etc. The real limiting factor is the distance between trees either side of the paved pad. We have dual slides and are close to 12 ft wide with those extended. The available width is no more than 12 ft 6 in. The campsite behind the driveway is outstanding and convenient to Happy Isles Loop Road, Curry Village, and Trailhead parking.

Honestly, the best camping location for Yosemite are the Pines Campground. I enjoyed every second of it. The only down side is how hard it is to get a place.

We always have a great experience camping in upper pines. It is a fantastic campground that is close to many of the hiking trails.

Easy check-in and check-out process. Sites are decent size. However, there wasnt much privacy and bathrooms were often the most easily accessible by walking through someones campsite. Bathrooms were kept clean and there are several bathrooms within short walking distance. Running water in bathrooms. Always stocked with toilet paper. Thank you!The campground felt safe, i saw Yosemite rangers and wildlife management cars driving by frequently. Each site has a picnic table and metal bear-proof locker. Please, store all smelly things here! Squirrels and ravens also patrol the area. If available, check out Lower Pines. Much more scenic and private sites!Upper Pines is the closest campground to Vernal Falls trail (but still a walk away), and about 10-15min walk from Curry Village (food, groceries..)Be aware: Booking a site at Yosemite NP in mid September was very challenging, luckily someone has canceled so i was able to book online a month out for one night. However, upon arrival (09/21/21) I noticed there were several sites unoccupied, another part of Upper Pines campground was closed and dedicated to a few volunteer sites. So while campground appeared fully booked online, in reality maybe only 1/3 sites were occupied.
Hard to get reservations yet so many campsites were vacant... I am talking whole campgrounds and whole loops in the campground I was in. Seems like the forest service still thinks the pandemic is going full steam.

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
