Very noisy campground. No privacy. Lights and noise from camp across the way were annoying. Campfire smoke overwhelming. Hard to breath. Never saw a host. Nobody at booth for check in or check out.

Tuolumne Meadows campground is an "old school" campground more designed for tent or small vehicle camping. This is one of the things we love about it. The trail to Lyell Canyon is at one edge of the campground which was handy for hiking without having to drive to the trailhead. This year, 2021, the nearby camp store was not well stocked and the Grill was permanently closed early in August without explanation. No shuttle bus service was available, but the location of the campground is still as beautiful as ever and it was a joy to be able to camp there.

The campground is directly across from the meadows and adjacent to the Tuolumne River, providing plenty of experiences in nature within walking distance. The campground itself is simple. Some of the internal roads are dirt/gravel. The campsite driveways can be narrow and difficult to back in larger trailers. Trees provide great shade. The rangers are friendly and helpful. There is a low-frills general store with groceries a short walk from the camp site. Do not expect cell phone reception or wi-fi (you are camping!). Generator hours are reasonable if you need it. I appreciate that I didn't have to fuss about selecting a campsite and instead they are assigned for you by the ranger upon arrival. However, please note that many sites are not level at all and will require you to put your RV on blocks. Luckily, we were assigned a flat site. There is no gas station nearby, even though park maps may indicate there is one. This is a beautiful, relaxing place. My kids loved playing in the river and exploring the nearby trails. I miss it already.

This is a one of a kind location, and we were fortunate to be assigned a site near the river which was lovely. Our site was fine but we observed that many of the sites are quite on a slant which would make it difficult to level a tent or rv. We also noticed that quite a few campsites remained empty which is a shame - may have been due to Covid 19 restrictions, the inability to offer first come first served spots due to late cancellations, or campers simply not cancelling. Wish we could have stayed more than one night!

Tuolumne Meadows is our most favorite camping location, having visited once or twice a summer for About 45 years. It never fails to inspire. This visit was quite special because the campground was so sparsely occupied, making it even more quiet than usual. To first-time visitors I would highly recommend the visitors center, soda springs, and the scouts cabin

We loved our stay at Tuolumne Meadows, the weather was blue skies and gorgeous. One thing we liked the most was it felt far less congested and busy compared to down around Yosemite Valley. If you're looking for an easy, relaxing walk go walk the Meadows. They are beautiful and full of wildlife and flowers. The campground was nice, we just did a walk-up in the morning and were lucky to get the same spot for a couple of days. If you have some extra time, go for a drive down to Lee Vining, it is a beautiful drive and you can check out Mono Lake while you're there (AND find Cell Phone Coverage if needed). We will DEFINITELY be returning!

The ranger campfires were top notch, complete with singalongs and storytelling. Our walk through the meadow was beautiful and quiet, the little cafe tent was a great plus for breakfast. Campsite was large and easy to back in the trailer.
