Always a good time at Yosemite. Good weather, nice campsite, beautiful scenery. The process for securing a campsite...well that is another topic. The lottery system for North pines sucks and the competition for campsites is very frustrating. I had 4 nights in Yosemite and had to move each day because consecutive nights in the same campsite was not available. Look at how Grand Canyon releases their campsites, it is a much better system.

Site #18 is arguably the best scenic site of Lower Pines as it has the best view of Half Dome and North Dome and is next to the Merced River. The site is also near the stage area of the campsite, meaning you have a relatively spacey place that doesn't feel like your neighbor is too close, and the restroom and dumpsite are nearby. The only downside about this site is that it offers zero shade, so it isn't great to occupy before the later evening in Summer or if you plan to use a hammock.

Bring your own hand soap and keep in the bear box, there isn't any soap or hand sanitizer in the bathrooms. When we stayed there was only one public shower building at Curry Village (the big public shower house was closed for renovations) so the lines were long - if you have a solar shower bring it! Also there were no laundromats open on site so bear that in mind.

Campground hosts were excellent...friendly and helpful. Lack of shuttle buses was very disappointing...to say the least! Facilities were always clean.Park stores were well stocked and reasonably priced.
