Bridalveil Creek Campground is an ideal location for accessing hikes along Glacier Pointt Rd. (such as the Sentinel Dome and Taft Point hikes), as well as for visiting Glacier Point at night to view the night sky (about a 15 minute drive). The campground is much quieter than the Pines Campgrounds in the Valley and is less smoky and crowded. One advantage is you can gather fallen twigs, branches, etc., from the surrounding area to use in a campfire. This can;t be done in the Valley. Also, there are no restrictions on campfire hours as there are in the Valley campgrounds.

The new reservation system makes it more convenient to get a campsite without having the uncertainty of whether one can get a first come first served site as was done before.

The campsite can be opened even more, as there is sufficient space between sites so there is no risk of COVID exposure. We saw many empty campsites--whether from no-shows or limited capacity, and we think more campsites should have been opened. The trick to getting a campsite in summer, when all sites are fully booked, is to check the recreation.gov site the week you are planning to visit. There will be cancellations and that is your best chance to get a campsite.

Be aware the campground gets VERY COLD at night and you can expect temperatures in the 40s in the middle of summer, so you should have a warm sleeping bag and outerwear.

It is about a 45 minute drive down the Yosemite Valley so it will take extra time to get to Valley activities.

Also be aware that Glacier Point Road is scheduled to be closed for construction in 2022, so you won;t be able to drive there in 2022, and I suspect the campground will also be closed.
