Great campground. Space large enough to accommodate our camper. Close to Mammoth.

Was there in July and it was HOT as there was minimal shade at the site. It was a little noisy early in the morning when you could hear trucks engine braking on the hill above the campground so would recommend bringing ear plugs if in a tent! Hot showers are available for $5 at the hotel up the hill. Overall, it is a good location and we explored Mammoth area, Lamar Valley, and down into the Norris Geyser Basin while staying at this campground.

Realize that distances in the park may seem short....i.e. 20 miles...but that can take much longer than highway or freeway miles. Slow moving traffic ahead of you that doesn't use pullouts, bear or buffalo jams can stop you for extended periods of time. Come with patience and follow park rules about distances from certain animals, etc.

Overall great experience. If you are tent camping at site 43, do note that the tent pad is right where the bison roam. It deemed too much for me at 2am so we went with plan B in the SUV - snorting and hooves stomping woke me right up haha. The elk and bison roam throughout the campground, nerve wracking for not being used to wild animals so close but such a cool experience. Bathrooms are toasty warm and spotless clean. There is no firewood sold at the campground, we went to the Mammoth store and the Cenex gas in Gardiner.
