James and Cindy Gibson are the best kind of people to host camping venues. They are always pleasant and welcoming despite the drudgery of cleaning up after some that just have no manners.

I stayed at 4 different campgrounds in Yellowstone, Mammoth was the most basic one, it covered my needs to have a place to set a tent for the night, but it has no showers and no place to rinse dishes. There's also not many trees in the campground so expect little privacy and lots of sun exposure

We really appreciated the flush toilets and sinks in the very clean bathrooms. Sites were great - we had 3 different - 37, 23, and 14. Even had a bull elk walk right into our site one morning for close up photos (from our vehicles, of course)! Staff (both paid and volunteer) very super helpful and friendly, even suggesting great fishing holes. Firewood sales every evening right in the park was an added bonus. Super close to Mammoth and not far from Gardiner.
