No complaints, but nothing to write home about. Many of the local attractions (e.g. Boiling River) are closed, so there's very little worthwhile nearby. This serves best as a jumping off point before passing through Yellowstone or as an end point in the other direction.

Friendly staff. Great views. Elk in town. Visitors center would not take cash?!

Raised tent platform is a great idea. Rangers were both friendly and helpful. After seeing a bear near the campsite, it was comforting to see constant patrolling by rangers. Bathroom was clean and portable water was available. Dump station and WIFI is needed.

Difficult to locate an RV dump, so plan accordingly.

The campground is tucked in an S curve of the road, so you hear traffic pretty early and pretty late. We had 2 rather unlevel sites, but we adjusted okay. Just being in the park is wonderful and we had elk bulls bugling right through the campground on numerous occasions. Nice ranger/ employees as well.

Our favorite campsite in all of Yellowstone! So many awesome hiking trails and hot springs near the campground. Highly recommend hiking Beaver Pond, Lava Creek, and Bunson Peak. We loved seeing the elk (from a respectful distance) in town.

This campground is in rough terrain with very few trees so it does get hot. The campground host were awesome, super friendly and helpful. This site gives you full access to the old military outpost and the village of Mammoth Springs (try the ice cream at the general store!). This site also gives you easy access to Gardiner, Montana which is the closest area to get wifi and cell service if you need to check on things back home. We spent a day exploring the Bear Tooth Highway and loved it!

Although our site wasn't the best in the camp (55), the people we met were wonderful, the bathrooms were very clean, and the frequent elk passing through made for a great stay. We also enjoyed the close proximity to Gardiner, MT. Highly recommend.
