The first night camping there the quiet rules were not enforced. Generators were running off and on late into the night and there was a group camping that was up until the early morning hours that were yelling off and on and talking loud. So it was a night of very little sleep after a very long day. The sign says quiet hours strictly enforced and that was NOT the case. The second night was quiet as all of the noisy people were gone, but you should not say you strictly enforce quiet when that is not the case. I was very disappointed. Mammoth does a much better job if making sure quiet is enforced.

The camp sites are cramped. Campers camp on top of each other. There is no privacy. What is described online is not what a camper gets. The water pump was broken, and campers were having a hard time getting water. Most campers never seen a pump type faucet. I took on the responsibility of fixing it. The bathrooms are still outhouse vault type, they were clean.Now, the campground hosts were very nice. They made our time bearable. However, female rangers were over-zealous and anal. Not nice at all. Walking around with a note pad, not communicating with visitors as a ranger should do. Lewis Lake has a boat ramp; it is a major attraction. I took on the responsibility of sharing information about the lake and the winds and general information about the park. I think if the rangers were more friendly, visitors would be more receptive to using their knowledge.
