It is unbearable to enjoy oneself when 4 sets of railroad tracks are filled with never ending very loud freight trains. All day.All night.I will never return...

Lovely spot right on the Mississippi River, with a train track running right by the property…be prepared for a few whistle blasts throughout the day and night. They do have flush toilets and showers (two stalls) just inside the park entrance, so expect a few minute walk or short drive to use the modern facilities. Otherwise, for most campers you will likely be using the well-maintained pit toilets (with no sinks) near your campsite. Speaking of showers, I had probably the most uncomfortably hot shower of my life here (just shy of scalding), but I suppose this is the Army Corps of Engineers way to assure guests don’t linger too long while washing up! :) Even so, having access to shower facilities was appreciated. There are potable water spigots located throughout the park. We were in the tent camping area, and there is a water pump and unisex pit toilet conveniently located nearby. All tent campsites included a picnic table, fire pit, and lantern pole. My young kids enjoyed the playground equipment on site. My only complaints (besides the trains) were that the fish weren’t biting, and there weren’t any notable hiking trails near the park. (I did see another fisherman land one small fish during our 2 day stay while casting from shore). That said, I would return again to Grant River.
