Absolutely love Blackhawk Park. Campers always friendly, staff helpful and caring. If I could I would live there.

Nice level paved pad, short on trees so awnings are great. Lots of gnats so bug spray a must. Nice clean well maintained buildings and facilities. Firewood available south of the park in DeSoto, nice drive to Viroqua and the farmers market on Saturday. We will be back.

Beautiful campgrounds. Very large sites, large open grass areas, walking & biking trails. One of our favorite COE campgrounds!

Clean and very well maintained. DNR was visible daily and willing to answer questions.
We have a 40’ toy hauler and getting in and out of the camp site was easy. Only slightly concerning part is the entrance off of The Great River Road, but even that wasn’t too bad.

This is one of our favorite Corps of Engineers parks. The campground is generally peaceful, and the bathrooms are nice and clean. There are lots of birds to serenade us and we enjoy seeing the eagles and large water birds.
My husband and I enjoy biking and walking along the water, shopping in Lansing--especially Horsfalls--, and eating at the Great River Roadhouse as well as some of the little restaurants in Lansing. One of our favorite things to do is visit Mount Hosmer City park in Lansing. It sits on a bluff 450 feet above the town, so there are terrific views of the area. Hosmer Park also has plenty of hiking trails to keep a person in shape!
Some people might not be aware that you have to make reservations for Blackhawk online, but same day reservations are possible. Weekend reservations should be made well in advance. It's a very popular park.
