I used to think that Blackhawk Park had to be the flagship corps campground but in recent years this facility has steadily deteriorated, mostly in the shower house areas and water quality. The water in the shower house loop is not fit for consumption and is so full of rust type material that it has ruined the showers, commodes and sinks. My wife will not wash her white hair using the shower water because it will immediately turn rust colored. Even with the water not being fit for consumption we witnessed children drinking water from the water fountain on the outside of the shower building! Also in the shower house area the contracted cleaning crew service has slipped steadily. Most of the time there is no hand soap in the bathroom dispensers, and the overall cleanliness of the bathroom is seriously lacking. I have to wonder why a waterline couldnt be run from the dump station (where there is potable water) to the west loop and shower house. Hopefully these issues may be addressed in the near future.

Area was nice. Plenty of eagles to watch. Take toilet paper to bathrooms. Kinda of a ghetto area you drive through to get there.

I've enjoyed Blackhawk for decades. It's a favorite of ours. We were on site 55. Easy walk to restroom/shower building. Because of truck problems I could not enjoy the park as much as usual. My problem not yours. Met Bill, the new to me ranger. Very kind gentleman. Was sorry to learn Eric had moved on with the Corp. Not sure how many more years we'll be camping . Getting older and tired.Thank you for years of memories.Len & Gloria Swestka

Blackhawk Park is a nicely located campground on the Mississippi river that boasts many water sites that are reasonably spaced and clean. The area has nice historic attractions and cover the history of the Blackhawk war and it's unfortunate end. Bird watching, hiking and other local shops and businesses provide opportunities to please most any visitor.

Beautiful, well maintained park. Park Rangers were always driving through as did the local sheriff . Although the park is mostly open with very few trees, it was very quiet! We are not fishing campers, but sure enjoyed watching the wildlife on the backwater. Highly recommend this park.
