Beautiful area but it's a party campground. People had bonfires during a red flag fire ban, up until 2 a.m. and the church camp across the lake was blasting music Sunday morning.

Very quiet this time of the year - we enjoyed the weather and the solitude. It can be really busy during the summer. The RV space was fine for our 18 foot trailer and we were able to access the picnic table and fire pit without climbing down the bank at the spot we stayed at. If you need flat ground, avoid some of the spaces that require steps to get down to the picnic tables - some of these sites are pretty steep on the west end of the Lake.

Make reservations otherwise it is a huge hassle to get a spot

There will be lots of mosquitos. Come prepared with enough repellants. Apart from that, its a good spot with all amenities for a family camping trip.

Excellent campground with beautiful views, great swimming and easy access to hiking and ATV trails. Many of the camp sites have access to small sections of beach adjacent to the site. If you are tent or RV camping its good to know that the fire ring and picnic table and tent pad are often well below the vehicle parking area due to the embankment headed down to the lake. Now the bad parts. The fishing is terrible. If you are not there to ride ATV's there can be a lot of noise with people riding in and out of the CG all day, sometimes a little too fast considering there are kids at play. Additionally, and its a bummer to have to say it, many of the people attracted to ATVs have a tendency to be loud annoying inconsiderate neighbors while you are trying to enjoy your camping trip. Based on the difficulty of actually getting a reservation at a premium site here in the summer there are way too many people cramming into the sites causing further erosion and damage of an already delicate area. This also contributes to more noise and serious overuse issues. The CG hosts did a somewhat acceptable job of regulating the loud music (i'm not an old fuddy duddy here when I say loud I mean can be heard 20 sites away) but they absolutely don't care about the over packed sites.
