Nice level spot. Close to water and bathroom with flush toilets. Clean. On the river. Shady all day. Need to move solar to use it all day. Private from neighbors for most part.

Incredible spot. Even when others are camping on the grounds, it feels extremely secluded and like a true escape from the modern world. Lots of shade and tree cover makes it easy to hang out all day without getting too hot or sunburnt. The river is not really swimmable because of the current (early May), but it is loud and we found it completely drowned out noises of adjacent campers and roads.

Great campground!!! Campsites are very private and beautiful but vary a LOT in size from figuring out even where a tent is supposed to go to being able to accommodate many huge tents/games/parking/etc…. If you are planning on 2+ tents of ANY size or more than 2 people, should look closely at the details and any photos that may be available. Also note that many of the rafting outfitters put in at the boat ramp on the other end of the campground and highly recommend a half-day rafting trip here. Nothing too crazy but always rapids and the water and scenery are just stunning.

These campsites are some of the prettiest, private and clean campsites we've ever experienced. The ones next to the river are beautiful but LOUD. We saw several rafters coming down the river past our site. The camp host is experienced, responsible and friendly and had tons of firewood prepared as well as kept all bathrooms (flush toilets!) spotless. As we left, he was raking a recently vacated site. The access to the McKenzie River trail is right at the day use area and that part also has beautiful benches and stone fireplaces dating from the CCC. The campground is also close to McKenzie River general store (for ice etc) and Obsidian Grill, with live music several nights a week and awesome food- the fresh salmon fillet burger was delicious- good beer too. Blue Pool, Proxy Falls and other falls trails are very near. Belknap Hot Springs nearby makes a nice visit- especially in winter or early fall. Must make reservations for an hour time slot.
