Very quiet, lovely sound of the river near by. I am very disappointed that the forest service(?) campgrounds in that area close after Labor Day. Fall is a nice time to camp and i would like to use these camping facilities into Sept and Oct. Is it lack of staff?

In the past, the Pit Toilets were not cleaned but once a week or less. They are now being cleaned every other day and trash is taken away at the same time. Much nicer experience with clean facilities.

Very peaceful location with river access at site #1. Depending on the site, very spacious!

Nice quiet place to get away from it all.

Frissell Crossing Campground is terrific if you like small campgrounds with big campsites, rushing river, forest service roads, and trails. My most recent stay (early July 2019) was in the first campsite--a deep site just inside the campground entrance. The site has river access and the myriad sounds of flowing water is welcome background music. We (two adults, three dogs) had plenty of room to set up two tents, and plenty of tree cover to keep from getting too much sun. The campground was just opening for the season and we knew the water had been tested but not the results of the testing, so we mostly used our own bottled water. Bathroom facilities were tidy and stocked during our three night stay. The drive to and from the campground on Aufderheide Drive is divine, even with the fire damage south of Cougar Reservoir. And the forest smells so good! I also love that there are forest service roads near the campground for those days when I'm not up to hiking the nearby trails but still want to get out with the dogs.
