Chapman Campground is located in the Sopris Ranger District, White River National Forest (3 hrs 50 min west of Lakewood, CO) with an elevation of 8,596 feet. There are a total of 76 campsites including 6 tent-only sites. The campground is normally open from mid May to the beginning of October. 70 sites can accommodate RVs and trailers between 25 and 99 feet. All sites are currently reservable. Reservations can be booked up to 6 months in advance. Each site includes a picnic table and fire ring. Fees range from $29.00 to $232.00. Activities include biking, fishing, hiking trails.

We have been to Chapman twice this summer and the bathrooms are always SO clean and well kept. The camp hosts take great pride in taking good care of this wonderful campground.

Lovely setting. Only complaint is the hand pump for water. I'm not so young that a hand pump is easy to use.

Lots of room in campsites, beautiful location with many things to do in the area. Campground bathrooms were kept very clean.

Fishing is fantastic in the Frying Pan!You can tell a good host by how clean the bathrooms are. These hosts are GREAT

Great spot to get away. We always stay in loop G or H less crowded and quieter . Bathrooms are really clean and the hosts extra helpful and friendly.

The campground is just as amazing as everyone says - far away from the crowds, beautiful location, and the cleanest toilets I've ever experienced at a campground. We were in G Loop, had shade and a big site - the only downside was that the grill on the fire ring was too tall for grilling steaks over charcoal and we had to improvise. Only explored G loop, most sites were great, though a couple were lacking shade. Not great access for the reservoir, but the river was super close. It's a long way from Denver, but the 4+ hour drive was worth it. Hope to go back next year!

The campground is consistently clean, quiet and delightful...the bathrooms are amazingly spotless with plenty of toilet paper! The gals fold the end of each roll, I felt like I was in a fancy hotel!

Scenic campground by Frying Pan River, with a stunning drive from Basalt past the Ruedi Reservoir on good roads. Most sites are private, near the river, and feature flat gravel pads, though a large rock separates the camper and picnic table/fire pit area. Bathrooms are clean, and potable water is available. Our starlink worked great! No interaction with the host, as we werent sure of the process. Caught brook trout and enjoyed long dog walks around the loops. First trip in our new Leisure Travel Van was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Chapman is one of the cleanest campgrounds we have been to. There is no cell phone service, so it is perfect for quiet days on the river or on the reservoir. We hope to be back again, as this was our fourth time visiting and we loved it.

This campsite was absolutely perfect for us! Ill admit I was a little jealous of the neighboring site (#11), which was right at water level, while ours was slightly elevated. That said, climbing down the rocks to get closer to the water added a fun, adventurous touch. We loved exploring the nearby little paths, and the whole area was quiet, peaceful, and exactly what we were looking for. A wonderful spot to relax and unplug.

I almost passed on reviewing Chapman CG because it is like a sweet fishing hole; something to best be kept secret. However, I doubt I am the only one to know of it so here goes. This was my first visit to Chapman. Luckily I went mid week when there were few people there. I suspect on a weekend it is a busy place because it is such a beautiful campground with so much to offer. Paddle boarding or canoeing on the still reservoir. Hiking up to the lake above. Fishing the Frying Pan, Chapman is great. The hosts deserve a shout out as well because they do a great job. Even though there are no showers, and the toilets are simple vault style, they are super clean. The campground is also well laid out with several different areas to camp. Not every site is jammed together like some campgrounds are. There are sites in the hills, sites next to the river, and sites close by the reservoir. It is a new favorite campground for me. I can't wait to return.

Very clean facilities and beautiful place! Saw more cleaning staff there than I ever expected to see at a public campground. Chapman Loop hike was great for the family.

The camp hosts were great-very friendly and helpful!Liked the hiking opportunities nearby and paddling on the reservoir. No internet service was actually a plus-able to totally disconnect from electronics-and thats a good thing!

Chapman Campground is a family friendly campground that is near and dear to our hearts. It is maintained beautifully by the friendly camp hosts. The bathrooms are immaculate.

We had a fantastic time here! The grounds are very well kept and absolutely beautiful. Most of the hikes are a drive away but there is some accessible from the campground itself. We saw deer every day, and of course lots of chipmunks and birds. A few marmot as well! Definitely worth coming back

Great campsite. We had enough space for 2 people and a dog. We were on a hill that had the most amazing view of the reservoir and the mountains. The bathrooms were maintained nice and clean. We saw a few Rangers come and check on everyone. Parking and accessibility were great. I will be returning!
