The camp sites are big and spacious and most have a gravel area for parking the camper and picnic table along with the fire-it. There are some nice little local shops, antique stores, ice cream and several beautiful views of the lake on your way in. The girl at the check in window was super friendly and very hospitable. The bath houses and restrooms are always very clean and neat. (The water pressure in some are not as good as others but over all great bath houses) The lake is pretty accessible from most camp sites and the lake is beautiful.
I only wish dogs were allowed, although that has not stopped us from returning each year that we can.

This is the most snooty campground I have ever stayed at. Been coming here for years but have never liked it. It gets worse every year. Draw is it’s on the lake. They do not allow any pets- not even if your pet stays in your camper totally never touching their grounds. There are other federal government run parks that do allow pets so what’s up with battlerun? They are ugly about it. This time their bathrooms were disgustingly dirty. On two occasions sexual activity was being conducted in the shower stalls. Kids run wild. Why don’t they stay on top of that like they do the no pets?! My husband has always been the one who campaigns to come here (for over 45 years). This time he said he doesn’t think he will be back. The lake is great but there are too many other places that have full hookups and sections that allow pets. Just sad times we live in.
