Thanks to the staff and volunteers. We stayed twice this year during Gauley season!Easy check in . The RV folks camping there were quiet and good neighbors to us tent campers.

First time being there when the lake is being drained for winter and the scenery was so different . Unique to say the least. Cant wait to go back in the spring when its being filled !

Stopped in without a reservation and was pleasantly surprised we got a site. The Host was very helpful. The bathhouse and laundry were clean and well kept. The campground itself was also well maintained. Unfortunately the lake had been drawn down probably 20 or more so there was a lot of shoreline. Will definitely stop there again.

Camp ground was very well designed. First Come system permitted selection of good sites with a view during the week. Very cost effective, especially if you have a federal parks pass. Most sites were quite level. Many good views of the lake. Noticed that some campers, apparently from nearby, set up a few days early to secure prime sites for the weekend. Very quiet at night. A pleasant experience. I would definitely consider going back.

Campground sites are mostly on the lake shoreline. Excellent place to camp if you love the lake, trails, and just relaxing. Bring your kayaks, lake toys, bikes and whatever else you enjoy. I have camped at this campground for thirty years. My only complaints would be that the campground used to have 6 horseshoe pits, removed 5 of them and did not replace them with anything. Also, in the early spring and late fall the campground management closes some of the campground and forces everyone to camp in a couple sections in the front. These times are May 1st to Memorial Day Weekend and the last couple weeks in the fall. This causes everyone to be camping on top of each other in a couple sections of the campground. Myself, when I go camping I like to have some space. Until they go back to leaving the entire campground open and let campers spread out you may want to consider avoiding these times.

Easy check in with friendly staff. If youre 62 before your next trip get the senior pass!

Even though there is a no pet policy, there were several dogs there, five to be exact. One looked like it may be a service dog but the rest were definitely not. Either lift your dog policy or make people show documents to prove its a service dog.

Awesome place.

Sites are in great shape. Campgrounds are clean. My only issue was the condition of the showers in the bathhouse. Many shower heads are damaged or broken and need attention from the parks maintenance team.

Facilities very well maintained. Nice swimming and boating area. Beautiful water. Friendly staff.

The bath houses need improvements, A/C, better water pressure. Hire summer help to gather driftwood from the lake. This could be used for firewood by the camp guest. Build two boat docks around the camping area for the campers to dock their boats. This would help the elders to get on and off the boat. Level up the camp sites. Make it better to level up ones trailer.

For us, it was like returning back home. As child, I often visited a great aunt and uncle in the area of the campground. Our last camp outing brought back so many memories. We meet several new people and was able to share information with them about the area. We have traveled through several states, but none of the places we have seen, can compare to Summersville Lake. The workers at the campground are always so friendly and helpful. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The lake is beautiful. Surrounded by beautiful rock formation and forests.Our children have always enjoyed camping, and we were able to camp with our older son on this trip. This was his first time out with his own camper. He shared the outing with us and several members of his police and firemen motorcycle club. Everyone enjoyed the outing and the lake.We are planning to visit the site again soon.

We love Battlerun and have been coming there for 34+ years. The people at the guard house are very nice. I was a little disappointed in the shower houses. They need some tile replaced and a little tlc. I realize there have been funding cuts, so Im sure that has something to do with it. I was a little confused when I saw someone with a small dog setting outside their camper. I know the no pets rule upset a lot of people, but, its a rule. There was a couple riding around the campground on a side by side holding a dog on her lap.

Everything was very good EXCEPT.i would love to bring my 6 lb schnauzer but I follow the rules and get a dog sitter. However, I get really frustrated when dogs are overlooked after its reported that someone brought one in that is not a service dog and it barked quite often. I personally do not understand why pets can not be brought. The whole idea of camping is to bring family and my pet is my family.

We love going to the lake and staying at Battle Run Campground. We have been going there for 6 years and have never had any problems. It is peaceful, clean and fun. My only complaint is not having water hook-up.

Battle Run Campground is a waterfront campground on the beautiful Summersville Lake. The only way to appreciate this gorgeous lake and magnificent cliffs that surround most of it is to get on the lake and see it. The cliffs are not near the campground so to see them a boat or PWC is necessary if staying here. Otherwise, traveling to a boat ramp closer to the cliffs area would be advised for kayakers, paddleboarders, etc. There is also quite a bit of outdoor recreation available not far from the campground. The campground has spacious sites situated in several loops and three conveniently situated bath houses with showers, flush toilets and laundry facilities. Drinking fountains are available in various locations. There is a very nice playground. There is a very well-maintained beach area across from the campground. No pets are allowed which allows for a peaceful camping experience. What is lacking on-site is firewood and ice. There is a Dollar General down the main road to the campground which is convenient if you have an extra vehicle to hop in and drive there.I highly recommend this campground for an excellent camping experience and access to one of the prettiest lakes at which we have ever camped.

We love waking up to the beautiful lake. Best Summersville campground with lake access. If you come to WV you must stay at Battle Run.

If I am camping here, am I allowed visitors that do not stay the night even if their visit puts me over the allowed amount of 8 during their visit? I never had this problem before of all the times I have camped here. Please explain!

@ChazInSoCal - CA

I just used PerfectCamp.com to book six consecutive August nights at the most popular campsite in one of the most popular campgrounds in Humboldt Redwoods State Park in California. That is not anything I could have accomplished anywhere else with the ease I did here! Thank you, PerfectCamp! I LOVE this site! You will find me on several other camping sites but the design, format, functionality, and personality of this the best. It’s fresh and clean.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
