The campground was quiet, spacious and clean. Folks were friendly. Make sure you verify the route going in. We followed Google maps which took us over the mountain from McCool. Very difficult with a rig. The lake was perfect for paddling; we did not try to fish. The one issue that peeved us was when we were packing up to leave and running a little late. At 12:02 (checkout was at 12:00), a camp host came over and asked us if we knew we had to leave that day. Clearly we were dismantling the site. It was a little rude. Next time we will know that there is no leeway on time.

The campground was quiet and orderly. Kids could and did ride their bikes in the campground safely. The sites are a little short for most RV motor homes but adequate for trailers and tents. The beach and overlook was still closed but the boat ramp was open and not crowded.

This place was well kept and staff was helpful and friendly. Only complaint would be with the description in the app, which is the lake isn't in the park. Must drive there. Either way would stay again.

Beautifully maintained grounds on this Army Corps of Engineers property. Site (17) was easily accessed by our 34 foot trailer and provided some privacy from neighboring sites. Water filling station at check-in and easy to access dump station on exit made this a great experience. Bring firewood and any necessities as stores are about an hour away. There is a very small shop in Elk Garden that has firewood bundles ($4.50) and very minimal other stuff (good ice cream by the container). Access to the lake was limited to the boat launch due to Covid, but we plan to return when Shaw beach reopens. Music in the park got a little loud but 10pm quiet hours were adhered to.
