We loved camp site 20! It is larger than the two sites it's near and it's the most tucked away from the road. Overall, Iron-Ridge is a very peaceful wooded campground and I would definitely like to return when the lake is a little warmer for swimming. Ticks are bad this year everywhere, so make sure you bring bug spray and tweezers. There was also a lot of poison ivy in and around our campsite, but was avoidable enough if you know how to ID it! Bathrooms were good, but it's just a single stall.

The campground was very well maintained and the site was clean and enjoyable. A great jem in Lawrence county

Our site was very nice and private. We arrived a day earlier than expected which could be why the site wasn't cleaned up. Nice hiking locally. Only negative was the traffic which I think was coming and going from the camp hosts at the top of the hill was frequent loud and fast. Very curvy road I didn't feel real safe walking our dog. Big plus was water on site! Dump station was closed so we had to go to the oak campground's.

The park was nice with some spacious sites. The bathhouses were clean. The hot water in the mens showers was not working or set to tepid. Neither was warm enough for my husband to shower in. Both womens showers were fine. There are plenty of waterfalls and hiking and biking trails nearby. Lovely area to visit.

Had a great time with friends. Campground is well-kept and the bath house was also very clean. We ended our trip early due to a power outage and some bad weather, but would definitely recommend.

The sites at the top loop of the iron ridge grounds are really not accurately represented on the .gov site. Most are pull-offs with steep grades, multiple in some cases, to get from parking/firepit down to picnic table and then down further to a tent pad. It looks like a couple of sites actually have stairs due to the grades. The weather has been drought-level around here, and the sites are hard, dry, dusty, rocky, and worn. The camp host at the end loop had dogs that were left to bark inside the camper but still clearly audible throughout the loop. The bathrooms at the loop were on the better side of average. There is no firewood here. Other sites between the entrance and the loop appeared better situated. They are still on a pay envelope system for FF campers; No QR codes or website/app options for this. I drove three hours to get to this campground and found the sites and situation so unpleasant I left after two hours and went home.

There was no soap or hand sanitizer in the restrooms. There was a bracket on the wall but nothing was attached to it. Someone that had the site prior to us drained the urine from their rv on to the parking pad. We had to cover it up with dirt to suppress the odor.

Clean bathrooms, good campsites. Camp hosts were nowhere to be seen.

Love this NF campground so close to our home! We are heading back in a few weeks for fall colors. Bathrooms are clean and showers work. Love having water hookups even though no electric. Camp hosts were very nice and even called to see if we had left something behind. Its quiet and peaceful. We had OK Verizon serviceenough I good check on my elderly mother each day. We had some crazy storms so skipped hiking, but plan to hike next time.

We love Iron Ridge Campground. The sites are pretty large and spread out, and its very shady. The cost is amazing, and the hosts do a great job of cleaning them of debris and anything people leave behind. Speaking of hosts, Mark and Kelli go above and beyond to make sure campers have the best possible experience. They have helped us so much over the past few years. We camp at Iron Ridge pretty often because we have family in the area. Mark and Kelli always go the extra mile to stop by and say hello. Our dog absolutely loves them and knows them by name. Mark even did some dog sitting for us one day when we had a family member in the hospital. They keep the restrooms clean and know the area very well. Mark always helps the Wayne National Forest rangers with maintenance issues. We were visiting Mark just a few weeks ago when a big storm blew up. The wind was terrible and the electricity flickered a few times. As soon as the storm passed, Mark was in his truck driving the loop to check on everyone. That night he helped cut three trees at a nearby campground. A few weeks earlier, he helped cut trees that had fallen across the road to Oak Hill Campground. I cannot say enough good things about Mark and Kelli. Iron Ridge has become a home away from home for us. Its just a short drive to Lake Vesuvius and many trailheads. Ironton is just a few minutes away. We wish the campground could be open year-round because we would certainly use it.

Overall the campsites were nice and the restrooms were kept clean. You will need your own hand soap as that isn't provided in the restrooms, you will also need your own mirror if you need it. The couple of hiking trails that we used were fun and nice, including the one from the campground to the lake. Only drawback for me was site I was in at #8, is it did start to get muddy some when it started to rain, and could possibly be a problem for other tent campers if it rains heavily, but other than that it was a nice site for me. Might be more enjoyable for someone with a camper but still ok with a good tent on the right spot.

I had a great time at the Iron Ridge campground! The site was clean and well-marked. The host, Jody, was friendly, engaging and full of good information. The setting was gorgeous with well-marked trails (Jody also gave me some good tips about which trails offer the best views). My site didn't have electricity, but those that did looked like they were well-maintained. The bathrooms and showers were a welcome respite from a few days of camping. This campground seemed to attract an older set of campers and the evenings were quiet. I would definitely recommend staying here if you have the opportunity. One thing to note: you'll have to collect deadfall for a fire unless you want to pay a fairly steep price at the nearby "market". I think it was $10 (don't recall exactly) but in my experiences elsewhere I was able to get the same amount of wood for $6. There was plenty of deadfall around but to make use of it, you'll need a saw to cut it into smaller pieces.

Site was easily accessable, and plenty of space

Very clean and well maintained bathrooms, staff was friendly and we overall had a great experience. My family packed up early and had to leave because we were infested with ticks. My children, despite having bug guard on, had multiple tiny baby ticks embedded. We were constantly pulling them off us and the kids. We were tent camping and didnt have a way to keep them away successfully. Overall, well be back but more prepared.

Beautiful park. We did not get to meet the camp host but the park rangers were very nice.

The park and campground are pretty. The management of the campground appears non-existent. No one is available for any questions or help campers with potential issues. Traveled to several places around to area to find firewood and there were no business which had any, (park or otherwise) which is an issue because we all know the restrictions about bringing your own firewood to places. This might all be early camping season problems, however.

What a gem in southern Ohio. We choose to utilize the campsites this year on an annual "back-to-school" backpacking trip with our kids. We loved the facilities and the camp hosts. They were amazing! The showers and bathrooms were the best we have seen at any campground, and the hosts made sure our stay was unforgettable. Highly recommend and we look forward to visiting again.

@BranJen - Santa Clara, CA

I wanted to thank you for this site and especially for the notifications feature. Thanks to your site and my subscription I was able to book a campsite I've been annoyingly trying to book for 5 years unsuccessfully. So thank you.

@Wondering - Oregon

Wow! Woke up this morning to a notification that a favorite had opened at Paulina, and when I went to check, it was there. This membership just paid for itself in the first 24 hours I owned it. Couldn't take the site it conflicted with a trip already set, but it truly was there. Thanks Tons.

@CarlaLThompson - Colorado

I just love this site and I tell everyone about it! It's so competitive to secure desired campsites and the alerts really help track when sites free up. The best part of this story is our alert notified a cancellation the next day!!!!!! Just incredible!!!
