Great campsite! So peaceful. Bear box was a little small so dont bring a large cooler! Quite a walk from parking, be prepared. Plenty of parking, we had two cars.

123 place with direct access to the river. Far from neighbors. Big trees with shed

We tent camped in the walk in sites along the river (3 nights). We brought a small garden cart and glad we did. It made it way easier to pack all our camping stuff down to the site and haul water in our 5 gallon jug. Overall, the site and bathrooms were very clean. I rarely see bathrooms so clean in campgrounds. The walk in sites were also very quiet and private with the sound of the river flooding out noises. Recommend the small hikes, especially the one into Newhalem. It goes by a hydroelectric building with signs describing the history of the dams in the area. The Tree Walk is also cool, good signage describing the various trees. We made it our base camp for paddling diablo and hiking Ross. I would stay there again.

The campground is ok. It has no showers. Some campers wash their dishes under the cold water supply intended for drinking water, leaving food scraps on the ground. The campground should reopen the kitchen sink room so these idiots don't leave food scraps on the ground.

We love the camp sites at Newhalem. The newly paved roads are great.

Walk in sites are the best. Just be sure to arrive before dark, or at least have lots of illumination with you. Restrooms are clean (no showers), lots of great trails, and lots of other quiet respectful campers.

As always, we love this campground. The hike-in spots are our favorite for the quiet but we ended up finding a spot last minute in loop C for an extra night. After intense and emotional work in healthcare, Id been looking forward to this trip (since hospital employees arent allowed to travel most places outside the county without a two week quarantine after, this was a big deal to get away) since we booked it pre-covid. That extra night made it a little easier to go back to work the next day. Thank you to Julie, Judy, and Wayne for helping us find a last minute spot to keep the relaxation going juuuust a little longer. I also spoke with a very helpful gentleman with a red beard at the visitors center who I didnt catch the name of. Thanks to everyone who keeps the area clean, quiet, and beautiful - you are appreciated!

Campground, sites, and bathrooms have always been clean and the visitors center is a bonus. We love going for a walk each year to view the movie shorts in the mini theater.

Beautiful campground with nice sites, but needs better management. My wife and I stayed at one of the walk-in-sites which we booked well in advance hoping for some quiet and beauty. We got the beauty but not the quiet. Site next to us was packed to the gills with 3 or 4 tents. Heavy drinking took place with party lights strung about the site and occupants making noise until 1:30 am. After they left we did have one quiet night; however, a different problem emerged; all the toilets in the men's bathroom were backed up.Went to the campground host who said no on was around to take care of the problem.
