Sites are a bit close to each other, so you can hear everything, but its a pretty place with clean bathrooms. We didnt come the first night because of rain, and I couldnt find a way to free up the site for anyone else. There were at least 4 campsites that were reserved that nobody showed up for, a shame for others needing a site.

Campground was great, clean sites & bathrooms. Ranger at Visitors Center helpful and pleasant. Sadly, most of the non-back country areas were closed due to Sourdough Fire. Hope to come back again

It was really hot that week but this campground is pretty decent, its big so theres a lot of folks but I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was in spite of that. Will definitely be back!

Quiet - not as busy as Colonel Creek Campground.

Our stay in July 2019 was great! Some of the sites are close together and can lack privacy, but we didn't mind. My 8 year old loved riding his bike around the camp ground loop. The Junior Ranger program was a neat surprise we didn't know about when booking! Don't forget to check out the visitors center, they have lots of activites for the family and a near Scavenger hunt. Sadly we didn't stay on a night the guided walk to the waterfall light display was running. Lots to explore in the area, the proximity to Lake Diablo was our motivation. Seeing the camp ground that was on the lake, I'm glad we chose Newhalem. We grabbed wood from just down the hwy before reaching the campground. We will definitely be back in 2020!
