Pretty nice campground, though the campsites vary significantly, some are large and can accommodate a large and a medium tent, while others only have room for a medium (2 people) tent. Each spot has a table and a fire pit, though fires are no longer allowed. The sites next to the water are the ones to get if you have the opportunity, as you can enjoy views of the lake. There are plenty of potable water faucets and the toilets are nice and clean. Overall a very nice campground, with some beautiful views of the lake and some good hikes nearby.

We love Colonial Creek Campground! The 2 spigots closest to my site were not in working order and haven't been for the last 2 years. So there was not an easy way to fill my fresh water tank. We finally found a fresh water spigot (the day before we left) between the entrance and exit of the dump station (which is not usable or accessible) where it would be possible to park along the road and block the exit of the dump station and fill the fresh water tank. There is no signage though so it isn't noticeable. The spigot did have a threaded end. We also found a wonderful little jaunt at Happy Creek trail. It's up past the Diablo Lake lookout on the right. It is 0.5 miles ADA accessible with a nice boardwalk for half of it and a wide rocky trail for the other half. At the end of the boardwalk there is a trail that goes about 1.2 miles (not ADA) up to Happy Creek Falls. We want to do the falls next time we are there. It was too smokey for much hiking the day we found it. We will be back!

We were able to hike part of the Thunder Creek trail in nice weather and Thunder Nob in the rain. We got lucky and the sun came out briefly at the top of the hill at Thunder Nob. The view was spectacular. Unfortunately, the water pump at our campsite didn't work
