Campground was well-taken care of, this specific site (144) is only partially private however. Thankfully they were doing construction so we had no neighbors across from us but note that the site is small & not fully private. Pros: close to bathroom & water, fully shaded. Cons: Amphitheatre nearby has day hike parking which can bring a lot of foot traffic. Also small sites that are really close to one another. Our neighbors were also VERY LOUD and had music blasting past quiet time. I wish there was better regulation of noise from the hosts/rangers. A lot of big families come out during holiday weekend (we stayed during Memorial Day weekend) so avoid if you dont want screaming kids & drunk adults talking loudly.

All rangers (including volunteers) were super helpful.
One confusing thing is the reservation system and first come first serve policy/best practice.
I learned from speaking with rangers that a green open sign does not necessarily mean the sight is open for that day.

I also learned about the 2:00 PM rule. If no one shows up by 2:00 PM on the 2nd day of their reservation the site is open.

I miss the old First Come First Serve system. I understand that reservations are super helpful in some cases but I think half of the sites should be true FF.

Anyways, I appreciate everything you all do.

Warm regards,
Carly

I love these two campsites and highly recommend them to anyone. Have had great luck getting good spots by just going early and being persistent. Its a family favorite over the years.

Campsites are very close together and there is so much campfire smoke it's unpleasant. However, the camp was well-maintained and clean-- including the bathrooms (which had soap too!). There is a nice hiking trail right from the campground. The lake was "meh"-- icy cold and the beach area was right near the highway.
