Nice quiet campground. Sites were clean and well kept. Lots of shade on site 153, and only a small amount of slope. Short bike ride to the parking lot where there is excellent lake access. Ranger program every night at the amphitheater. VG experience.

Colonial Creek is a very nice campground with freshly resurfaced roads and decent restrooms. Our site was very large and quiet.
Two issues though:
1. The water spigot leaked profusely causing an enormous waste of water (and a muddy mess too.)
2. Sadly for those of us who go "out in nature" to breathe fresh air, the overwhelming majority of our fellow campers seem to believe that "it's not camping if you don't have a campfire". Some campers ignored the prohibition against gathering firewood, others left their fires burning all day and night and nobody else seemed to notice that this campground is in a place where the wind does not carry the smoke away - reminded me of a smog alert day in the city. I like a nice fire as much as the next guy, but in these times of drought it seems dangerous and unnecessary.

Nice clean campground, friendly rangers. Spacious campsites. Great location in the park. It is too shaded to use solar, but use of generators is okay. There are many hiking trails in the area.

Great campsite, very close to the lake (5 minute walk). Close to hikes and nature. Pretty private, and quite. Only wish they had showers!
