Quaint and private walk-in campsite. Site C17 was a great place for us to have a nice and private feeling overnight getaway from the metropolitan cluster! Campground has clean and adequate facilities.

A well maintained campground with plenty of privacy, shade from the trees, fire pits, places to string up a hammock! Had a great fire, easy access to restrooms, didn't see any showers. Brought in approve firewood from the nearby 7-11. Had a great day of hiking the next morning on multiple trails!

The campgrounds are kept trash free as well as the restrooms. We go during the week and there are only a few campers there. We love to hike on the trails and when we’re done, we return to our campsite and enjoy a campfire and a meal! The fire pits are very good for either. The only thing I would like to see is firewood for sale on site. It’s definitely a campground we return to time and time again!

Love this campground, especially since it’s close to home and great for a quick trip. Loop A is a little more open and then the vegetation is thicker in Loop C and the walk back sites are great for renting. There really aren’t any bad sites in the campground but don’t bring a big RV or trailer. The bathrooms are clean and modern and Loop B has showers. All sites have a fire ring/grill combo and a lantern post. Don’t expect there to always be a host on duty. I’ve scored free firewood before but it’s locked up and access to it requires finding a host. Best to bring your own wood with you. In fact, make sure you have everything you need. The 7-11 on the other side of Route 1 is a bit of a haul and could be an hour round trip during rush hour. The only other amenity besides the sometimes-accessible firewood is a broken soda machine but why it’s called “roughing it.”

I noticed the last couple of times that the rangers aren’t patrolling as frequently, at least not in the evenings. Maybe they don’t have as much staff outside the summer months. The only time I’ve seen them driving around recently was on my previous visit at 8am (which was great because I needed a jump start lol). On this visit, a lot group of kids came into a site two down from ours (C loop, so not super close) right at dusk and proceeded to blast music and talk loudly. This continued for a couple of hours - I could even hear them halfway to the B loop showers and I felt bad for the young couple with kids right on the other side of them. Noise really travels at night. Miraculously, they went silent a little before the start of quiet hours at 10:00 so that’s when they probably passed out. Never did see a ranger and there was no camp host on duty.

Overall, this is a nice campground. Expect it to be busy on weekends.
