Ponderosa Campground, Unita, is our favorite place to camp. It is quite, beautiful, and relaxing. We love it here. There is no cell phone service here, however, which we wish it had. We would have to drive down the canyon until we got service to call family or check on family.

Great campground and great sites. We have young kids so we were grateful for the fences that line the river all along the campground. Clean bathrooms. No cell service. Pack all the water you will need. We will definitely be back!

WHEN i ARRIVED AT PONDEROSA I WAS SHOCKED TO LEARN THAT THERE WERE NO FACILITIES OTHER THAN A TOILET. NO WASH FACILITIES OF ANY KIND. THIS SHOULD BE STATED CLEARLY ON THE RESERVATIONS PAGE. I CANCELLED BOTH MY RESERVATIONS THERE (LOSING ALL BUT $3.50 OF MY CHARGES) AND WENT TO ANOTHER NEARBY CAMPGROUND THAT CHARGED THE SAME AND INCLUDED ALL NECESSARY FACILITIES. I STAY OFTEN AT RECREATION.GOV CAMPGROUNDS AND THIS IS THE FIRST ONE IVE EVER COME ACROSS THAT HAD NOTHING BUT A CAMPSITE! EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

We had a site reserved for 2 days. We asked the camp hostess if we could get the campsite for another day. She looked on her paperwork and told us that we could, the site was open. She said, "This site is now reserved for you". The next day a family came, trailer in tow, with confirmation on the website that the site was reserved for them. Being a good citizen we loaded our stuff to leave. It was then that we noticed that the reservation sign had their name written on it. The hostess wrote their name on the sign but did not tell us that the camp was no longer ours. The father of the family yelled at me, called me a liar, and wanted to beat me up. Two years prior we reserved this same camp but waited for 3 hours for someone to move their trailer. The host did not update the reservation signs, so another family set up and payed for it.I feel like I was set up by the hostess for a near violent confrontation. I am upset that this other family thinks that we were trying to 'steal' their camp site. I'm really upset that this family came to have a good holiday, and it made their father so angry that it may have ruined their campout. This encounter was very unpleasant for both of our families.I do not feel confident in trusting this camping process.

We have loved camping in the Ponderosa Uinta for years. This campground has always been well taken care of. They have made significant improvements with the bathroom houses. It is annoying that there is no water available at the site. The best part is the camp ground hosts. They were so friendly and helpful. They added a nice atmosphere to the camp site and answered any questions we had. They worked hard to clean up sites quickly after campers checked out. The ensured the camp site was safe and comfortable for the guests and also that the environment was properly respected.

What can I say Tamara was awesome. The restrooms were always clean. Each campsite was cleaned after each guest left. Please give Tamara a raise and a Thank You

This is a great campsite. Lots of trees for shade and fun hikes to do nearby. Mt Nebo is gorgeous. My one complaint was that water was unavailable. I understand they were having a plumbing issue but I think they should have lowered to cost of a campground per night since we had to haul in all of our water.
The rangers were super friendly and kind and the bathrooms (no flushable toilets) were kept very clean. We had a nice stay.

We love this campground! It is spacious, clean and friendly. Tables and fire pits are each site. There are a lot of trees for plenty of shade. Lots of trails and beauty near by. Kids played in the creek, saw some deer and cows. Tamara, the host, was helpful and keep the place super clean. Those were the best smelling and cleanest vault toilets I have ever experienced! We appreciated all her hard work. The 1000 acre wood was out of commission due to Covid, but still fun!

If there are speed tests submitted for a campground the campsite icons will be colored based on the average download speed and the border will be colored based on the average upload speed.
In this example Campsite #123 has very good download speeds and decent upload speeds. If a campsite has a solid yellow color it means there was no data speed detected in the test(s). Clicking on a campsite icon reveals more details.
