1st experience at a Corp of Engineers park and it didnt disappoint. The sites are large and spread out, abundant deer in the evening for wildlife watching, coded entrance providing a little security and easy walk down to the lake shore. Bathrooms are dated and probably need some work, but we were here in an RV and didnt need those facilities. Would definitely stay here again if were in the area.

Overall this is a very nice park, but there were a couple of things that could be improved. The grass had been mowed in the wide open areas but it should be trimmed around the slabs and especially around the utility pedestals. The restrooms are only cleaned three times a week, Monday, Friday, and Saturday. They must have had a very busy weekend before we got there on Sunday because the restrooms were a mess. A little extra cleaning would have been good.

Campsite was dirty- cigarette Butts, bottle caps, other small trash. We had to clean up the shelter before we could use it. Had to leave some if it behind. Busy holiday weekend with lots of noisy guests. To be expected. We didn’t feel like we left the suburbs. Great for families. Normally this area is pristine and quiet. For retirees I recommend the other campground at Granger Lake - Taylor is quieter.

The volunteer hosts are very friendly and eager to help. The people that are under contract appear to be doing nothing. We have been here a week in May, then we left and came back for 2 weeks in June. In all that time the grass has not been mowed, garbage stacks up to overflowing before it is picked up, and worst of all the closed in shelters have never been cleaned. I will have to do a total cleaning before our son and grandkids can get into the shelter we will rent this weekend. Floors have blood and dirt that has never been swept out. Cob web in the bunk beds. Sink and counter are filthy. We looked In 2 different shelters and both are not useable. This park is definitely below the lowest standards and it is such a pretty lake and could be a wonderful place to stay. Highly disappointed!!! We are retired and travel a lot. Other COE parks and state parks in other states are much nicer. We are from Texas and hold pride in our state. Texas you can do better than this!!!

It wasn’t the best of weather scenarios but overall the stay at the park was great. Not much I would change. Park host was very friendly and park overall was extremely quiet. The amount of nature from birds to deer was remarkable. Only minus would be the restrooms, only had to use once and it was really one time too many.
