The park is very nice and we really like the shelters at each campsite. We have a pop up and the shelters with picnic table allow us better use of the outside space.
More bathrooms would be helpful and more privacy in the shower rooms would also be an improvement.
The information on the reservation system does not match the actual conditions. Example: the reservation noted that the gate house closed at 6:00 pm. When we arrived on Wednesday, we found that the gate house was only opened on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Our site number was on the reservation se it was not a problem but we were under the impression that we had to be in the park before 6:00 pm in order to check in.

Jim Hogg Park was a solid recreational choice for several years for our family. The gate attendants have always been very helpful and courteous but, every time we visited confirmed that this location has serious issues. There are several campers with very trashy sites who appear to stay for long periods of time. They come and go at regular hours which seems to suggest they are living at these locations versus visiting for recreation purposes.Their animals are kept inside the camper with no one on-site for most of the day and the animal waste is rarely cleaned up as required. The bathhouses almost always need cleaning and the trash bins overflow on many Monday mornings, however, the 50 amp sites are always fun to stay at, just know the upper loop is beginning to look like a homeless camp.
