Our sites are always clean and maintained, the park host are so friendly and we notice them checking camp grounds through out the day. the community bathrooms are kept nice and clean.

Secured park, sites are large and plenty of room between them. We were in a loop up from the lake, bordered by trees, the loop down on the lake are premium with a view, but out in the clearing with no tree cover. Staff is friendly. The shower and restroom are in need of updating and not usable unless your desperate. Slow drains and not very clean, that is the reason for a 3 rating.

My wife and I camped at Jim Hogg Park for the first time. It was a fairly last minute decision and I was kind of disappointed that all the lower loop (lake view) sites were booked, however it turned out we liked the upper loop better. There are more trees and it was very quiet, which we like.
We hiked a few miles and loved the trails. I will definitely come back and ride my mountain bike here.
The restrooms were pretty old but very clean.
The lady at the gate was super nice and helpful.
The covered picnic table area at our site was fantastic. We hung a light above us and played dominoes into the night.
I really appreciate the park encouraging campers who wanted a campfire to use any deadfall wood in the park, and there was a lot of it from naturally occurring deadfall to branches that had been maintenance pruned. This is good practice because it decreases the amount of available ground fuel for wildfires. I wish more parks would see it this way.
We definitely will come back here in the future.

What a way to spend the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Walking the dogs, enjoying the wildlife.

Nice campground. Camp sites had good running water, electricity, nice vehicle parking, good covered bench, a BBQ grill and a fire pit. Bathrooms were nothing special but never are at a USACE park. This is a nice little hidden spot that's quite but still close to the city. Will definitely come here again!
