Loved this lake and the campground! Definitely recommend it. Stayed in both Cedar Breaks on the opposite side of the lake and Jim Hogg. Both were excellent, each had 1 or 2 things I liked better. Can’t go wrong with either one!

We loved the exceptionally sturdiness and expanse of the picnic table roofs. I wouldve given 5 stars but my husband said the restroom was not clean or nice, I had t gone in them so I take him at his word. The spaces are nicely separated, it was quiet but then again it was cold since it was Thanksgiving wkd. We stayed in space 111. We had a shelter also rented but didnt use it because my sons preferred the tent, the shelter was also dirty but it is screened in on 4 sides.

We had a great time and enjoyed the nice well kept park, bathrooms and pavilion. No ants! No poop! No stickers! Huge wins there. The only minor complaint was the people next to us played music late at night while we were trying to get little ones to sleep. Im not sure if there is a rule about music, but we decided to use a white noise phone app and had no prob getting the kids asleep.

We were very disappointed at the conditions and the service and friendliness of the staff. We had not camped at Jim Hogg since Late 2015 and boy have things changed!!!! The camp hosts were much younger than we have ever encountered before and they seem to not really care. The bath rooms and showers were NASTY!!!! We were there an entire week and they were in poor shape all week!!!!Even worse was the treatment/attitude we encountered at the guard shack. Since we were there for a week, doing touristy things and visiting family, we could not get back to the campsite before the gate closed and we would need the code to get back in the main gate. When we initially arrived we got that gate, but were told since we would be there when the new month rolled around, the code would change and we would have to get the new one. This was when we checked in and this was a NICE older gentleman. On the first, when my wife returned during the day, she asked for the new after hours code. The RUDE younger man working the window at that time, would not give it to her and argued with her about needing it. WHAT THE HECK!!!! On a side note, the gate seemed to be knocked down several times that week, now we know why!!!!! If they won't give out the gate code, people have to get in somehow.Back to our situation, as the attendant continued to argue with my with my wife, the NICE older gentleman came into the office and asked him what the deal was and told my wife with no hesitation that they were not changing the code so don't worry about it.!!!!! WTF!!!!! What was that 'kids' problem!!!!!!Going forward, Jim Hogg park will be a last resort when we need a place to stay in the Austin/Georgetown area. Nasty bathrooms and showers AND NASTY camp hosts is not where I want to be when I am trying to relax for a few days!!!!!!!!
