This ACE campground underwhelmed us. Sites are a bit closer together than is typical at these parks. Most sites were not level and pretty narrow but the covered paved picnic space at each site is huge. Most sites, besides lakeside sites, are fully shaded by cedar trees. One area has permanent residents but their sites seem well maintained. The rest of the park. Not so much. The facilities were in poor shape and trash could be found thru out the campground. Especially where the dumpster were located. There was also an abandoned class A camper and pontoon boat by the fishing dock. No groundskeeper were seen at any point during the weekend. The campground itself was quiet and it was nice to see access to a (mostly) paved bike path about 1 mile outside the park. The hiking trail, accessible via campground, is fully shaded but also full of rough rocks. If allergic to poison ivy, keep your eyes open: there is plenty all over. Check in was easy, there was no one available when checking out. Keep & have available your confirmation email: it has the gate code to the campground, located after entering into the park. I understand this used to be a great park.

Great COE park. Clean park and friendly hosts. Showers could use a little work but they did work. Really quiet and close to the water,

Like most COE parks, the camping sites are a little more spaced out than is typical in a state park or other type of park. At this park there is a 26.5 mile hike around the lake. We did not complete that hike but we did explore around the damn and our campsite. Path was improved and paved in some place and very rustic and rocky others. Nice hikes to be had without doing the whole loop around the lake. These camping sites are tucked in thick cedar so there is plenty of shade for those hot Texas days, with shelters at each site with a picnik table and a grill and a ground based fire ring.

Camping spots are very close together and you can hear people talk from many spaces down. Would be fun for a group vacation but I wanted a more peaceful, wilderness experience.

We love this small park. The sites are not too close to each other. It's clean and quiet. The lake is great. Just about every site has a great lake view

The site was over run with ash in grill & firepit. Plastic Trash & burnt beer cans littered the site. I arrived an hour early to see if I could talk to volunteer and no-one drove around till next morning and did not stop when I flagged them. The men's toilet was over flowing and clogged, though it was fixed 12hrs later.

Old COE campground. Appears to have been designed for tent camping but converted to RV use. Few level sites. Roadways and pads in need of repair. Our site was unsafe. We still enjoyed the stay.

Nice shelters and fairly clean facilities make this campground a pleasurable experience. Hardly any access to the water doesnt bother me at all. Aggressive raccoons will raid your camp if you leave goodies out, so dont. Cleaner than most stare parks.
