We were testing our new trailer and the spot we selected was perfect (#58). We were not close to anyone which was perfect as we were seeing how our 2 dogs handled everything. We were off gird, so did not use the electric or water. Spot was clean and had the perfect blend of sun and shade.

Nice staff, beautiful and open area camping spots. Beautiful deer, interesting big ugly birds and just such a relaxing area.

Nice quiet place. It was winter and cold so there weren't a whole lot of campers there, as was expected. We picked a spot in the back of the campgrounds next to what looked like a floodplain area. We will definitely come back.

Clean and nice but very hot so water was way down. Definitely NO fishing. Deer everywhere and wild turkeys.

Great park, lots of upgrades being made. Close enough to town, but feels far away. We stayed in site 58, great shade, pull through. Friendly staff.

We were in site 58. Mosquitoes were a problem due to the lake being full and the water backing up into the wooded area near this section of the campground. It is likely that other areas of the campground where it wasn't quite as marshy would have had fewer mosquitoes. This campground is reasonably close (20 to 30 minutes) to 2 vintage aircraft and warbird museums, a zoo, an arboretum, and the Fort Worth Stockyards.

This campground was in a good location for our purposes and we enjoyed being outside of the busy Fort Worth traffic patterns. The campground itself needs some attention. There is a large area for seasonal / volunteers (I assume) that was not attractive and many of the campsites throughout the campground were out of service while most of the park needed some serious maintenance and upkeep. The gate guards were 50/50 - the man we dealt with was wonderful while the woman we encountered was not. We did not see much in the way of staff and there wasn't an established rule that we found being enforced. The hiking/equestrian trail was in terrible condition. We did appreciate that they offered an equestrian site and we enjoyed walking - lots of great walking! Site 58 was really large and private and we appreciated that very much! If we had been in a different site, our experience would have been much less pleasant. Altogether, it was a nice visit but we hate to see a campground with great potential not being realized.

reserved space #58 pull thru. pull thru is more of a horse shoe than any of the other pull I have ever been in. finally got in the space and then there wasn't any space for me to disconnect from my truck. left that site and called recreation.gov and was told there was spaces up on the hill with 50 amp electric so I went up there to check them out, got backed in and got to looking for water hookup, NO WATER hook up. water had been capped off. Gave up and came home. Told people at the gate what happened and they said they were sorry. called recreation.gov back and ask for a refund but haven't gotten any response so I guess I made a donation this trip. first time I have ever had any problems at Holiday Texas and I have been camping there for at least 15 years.

The toilets & shower areas could use a remodel. They were clean, but old & ran down. Also a park rangers presence more often would be nice, especially on weekends when the place fills up with campers. Kids were speeding all over the place on motor scooters. Not to safe!Otherwise it was a nice campground!

We stayed in site 58 for 14 days. The deer would come through the site each night. We were in a spot that was a little secluded from everyone else. It was nice and quiet.

A nice campground with good spacing between sites. Our site was mostly level requiring minimal leveling. Water pressure was good. No issues with the electricity. Easy access to the boat ramp. Shopping is between 10 and 30 minutes away, depending on what you are looking for. We plan on staying here again.

There were a few "negatives" that won't stop us from staying here again, but are worth mentioning. The public bathrooms and showers are probably among the worst we have seen. Outdated and in marginal condition. There was a stall in one of the Men's rooms that had yellow caution tape across the door. The toilet was full of poop that looked like it had been there for a few months. Disgusting. My wife said the women's rooms weren't any better. It was a real contrast. Fantastic, nicely kept campground with horrible restrooms and showers. I'm glad we weren't tenting or staying in a cabin. We didn't actually need the restrooms, since we were in a fifth wheel.

When we left, we used the dump station located near the entrance. It is not level. If you are unaware of where the dump pipes are physically located on your rig's tanks, you may end up not actually emptying much of your tanks. I am not talking about the location of your dump valve at the side of your rig. I am talking about where the pipe is actually connected to the tank up inside your rig. In our rig, we have tanks locate on both sides of the dump valve, so we had to empty the blank tank and shower tank first, since the waste pipes were pointed downhill, then turn around and empty the kitchen grey tank next so it's waste pipe would point downhill.

Power went off early in the evening and not sure when it came back on. I thought someone might come by to let us know the circumstances but did not hear.

It was pretty. I didn't mind that we had to drive to another park to swim. The bathrooms were disgusting! The bath house near our campsite had 2 stalls in both the men's and women's. They were very dirty. One of the stalls was out of order in both the men's and women's stalls. When we went back to use the bathroom later someone had gone in and stopped up the only working toilets in both the men's and women's restroom. Went to use them the next day and they were still unusable. I will not be going back.

My number one concern was safety. Everyone was warning me being a mom, taking my younger daughter, and only my dog. I didn’t want the worry to keep me from enjoying camping so we went for it. Had a great time. Easy but effective communication, clearly marked spaces with working water and electric. We hated the big burrs that kept us from hiking far with the dog, but a nice trip all around!
