Tent site 80 was nice on the water but nearby mens restroom was locked and by the looks of how much trash was inside of it, it has probably been locked for quite some time now.

Stayed here during the '24 solar eclipse and it was a beautiful campground. Being right on the lake is excellent. There are however many downsides to this campground.1- ridiculous hours. Who closes entrance to the campground in the evenings? Even for a DoD facility, it is nonsense considering people can still get in. 2- rude staff. We had a woman, likely a volunteer since she wasn't in a ranger uniform, who was rude and aggressive to every member of my party in different encounters. Even just entering the campground we were given attitude and it didn't represent the corps or the facility well. 3- lack of running water and bathroom access. You practically have to drive to the toilets, all of which had different amenities. One was even locked with no notice posted anywhere. The new CXT toilet in the south loop was nice but still didn't have soap. Every other mens bathroom had non functioning stall doors which couldn't be locked creating awkward encounters. 4- abundant trash. Our site was covered in bits of garbage. We picked up a ton of trash that had been there. Not entirely the army's fault, but they can do a much better job of securing dumpsters and cleaning their grounds.I wouldn't stay at this campground again and am very sad at the state of this US Army Corps of Engineers facility, especially as a ranger who was once a member of that agency. The managers need to find better staff than the rude woman who we interacted with and improve the quality of this campground or close it entirely.

The campground overall is very nice. The guy who checks people in is a bit of a hawk about passes. I've stayed here several times over the past few weeks and he checks my pass every time. I've never had any other campsite even ask for it. But overall he's nice. The other thing that is a bit of an eyesore is the area reserved for the, apparently, MANY campground hosts this place has. It is a bit of a mess. It kind of looks like a homeless encampment. Old school bus, crap strewn everywhere. It really should be cleaned up. But overall the campground is nice. The new bathroom/showers are very nice- only the one building is new though.
