This park has become one of the worst's parks I have been to in a long time. I have been going to these parks for over 50 years and the State has really let them go. The grass was so high I lost my small dog on a lease. My pad had dirt and mud a least 1 to 3 inches high across the concrete. The grass around was so high and built up with mud about 5 inches that it made a big mess on the pad. You couldn't even walk down to the lake and swim because of the grass at the lake. Maybe 2 foot high. You couldn't even find the fire pit because of the grass was so grown up around it.What a disgrace to the people of Texas. The volunteers do not do anything any more. Just stay for free. Nobody cares or watches what they do. I was there for a week and never saw them do anything. What a shame. I sorry for this bad report but it's true. It would be nice to send a Park Ranger by the Spot 402 Johnson Creek and really stop and get out of his truck and see it and then tell me it's ok.

This is a great spot but, They do not take of the spot.It needs a tractor or backhole to clean off the 6" to 8" of dirt that has wash off the hill. Now there is a small lake on the spot because the water can not run off!Its need this done on both sides so the water and mud cannot run onto the padThanks

Greeted by a nice lady at the gate confirmed our reservations gave us a map and told us how to get to our site. Even though it rained most of the time we were there, It was a nice place with a beautiful view over the lake.

We loved it. Staff and the other guests were very friendly. It was peaceful and quiet. We loved our site and took long walks among a large deer population in the park. We had no need for the showers but we did inspect them. They were clean and secure. Short drive from Jefferson, Tx

While you are at Johnson Creek take in the famous cornbread sandwich shop in downtown Jefferson, Texas. And maybe get a notorious Bubba burger from Fuglars Grocery Store over on Hwy154, about 13 minutes west of Marshall.
