Make sure to carry lots of ant spray/killer, as they are 'atrocious', invading your vehicles, campers and anything that touches the ground. If you leave your watercraft in the water at the inside-park boat ramp, be warned, you may have buzzards come aboard, even with the fake owls standing guard. The trees/bushes along the camp banks need to be cut and trimmed as they are beginning to block lakeside views of the water. Even with the drawbacks(if you want to call them that) I had a great 2 weeks and will be returning next year. The staff and maintenance team at Alley Creek Campgrounds are courteous and polite and do what they can to make your stay as pleasantly as possible.

Bathroom and shower facilities need complete remodeling. They were not user-friendly as it is impossible to shower and dress without getting everything wet. Using restroom requires walking on wet floor if someone has showered before. Roads, driveways and camping areas were well-maintained.

We really loved this park. It's quiet and not over crowed. The gate workers were extremely pleasant. This is on a beautiful lake. Our only complaint was maintenance. It seems as though there isn't much being done around the park maintenance wise. The grass has not been mowed in clearly some time. The shower house set up is nice, water was hot, and the second bath house is air conditioned....but again...the bath houses could have used a little sprucing up as well. Ants were awful (got in our cars and trailers) so bring poision with you.....which again I believe is due to lack of maintenance. This place would be almost perfect if someone would put a little TLC into it. We will likely visit again to see if things have improved.

Beautiful campground surrounded by tall pine trees. Short drive to Jefferson where exploring some unique Texas history is a must, and nearby Caddo Lake is a great paddling experience. Caught several fish on the shoreline at our campsite. Only issue was an ant invasion, so treat your site when you arrive. We will definitely return!
